I bought a 300 f2.8 lens last night, and tested it out at the Bomber game today; Banjo Bowl pt. 2. The Bombers lost in the last minute to the Rough Riders, 34-31.
The lens performed great, much better than I expected! I didn't feel my action shots from todays game were as great as they have been this year, and it had nothing to do with the new equipment, if anything I had a higher percentage of 'quality' shots. It seemed like I was never at the right spot for the action which is just luck of the draw of how the play breaks. I have nice crisp photographs of the key moments and action, but a lot of it was just from the wrong side of the field (mostly around the endzone, when you have to choose amongst several positions to shoot from).
I'm taking a cue from a great blog, 'The Big Picture' (http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/) and am posting the photos from today in high resolution. These photos are pretty much straight out of the camera, only slight raw adjustments (*yea, I still shoot absolutely everything in RAW).
