“Sport is the new sex!” — that’s at least what you’ll think when you take a look at the photos in John Gress’ coffee table book The Score.
Well trained and incredibly are his models and Gress follows them on the field, where they can get rough. His pictures give us the possibility to study these men’s immaculate bodies even more intensive than we ever looked at own body. Every muscle, every salty drop of sweat appears to be almost palpable. In an impressive way these pictures illustrate the effort, the strength of will and the energy that are necessary to build up a body to such perfection. Gress’ pictures are sometimes naughty, sometimes playful, but most often masculine and full of testosterone.

John Gress discovered the art of photograpy at the age of 14 when he took his mother’s point-and-shoot camera to summer camp. He enrolled in his first photography class during freshman year of highschool, and by his senior year was covering major events for the Associated Press.
