Guns Found In Orange County Home With Child!
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- An Orange County sheriff's deputy serving a warrant on Friday discovered a child home alone and weapons inside the house, authorities said.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office said a 4-year-old answered the door to the Victory Drive home when the warrant was served, and the deputy asked to talk to an adult.
The child shut the door and when the deputy knocked again, the child answered, but no adult could be seen or heard, the Sheriff's Office said.
When deputies searched the home, thinking the adult they were trying to serve the warrant on was hiding, they said they found a 9 mm handgun and an assault rifle under a bed, within the reach of the child.
Deputies said the child's mother, 28-year-old Nathlee Gooden, came home about an hour later.
Deputies called the Department of Children and Families to assist in the investigation.
According to Gooden, she thought the 4-year-old was taken to day care, but she did not check any of the rooms before she left, the Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies said there was a cold glass of milk and cookies left on a plate inside the kitchen.
Gooden was arrested and charged with child neglect. The weapons were seized by deputies.
Gooden has since bonded out of the Orange County Jail.
