even though you personally have been told this numerous times.
sometimes the sign of "smartness" is to adapt arguments to presented facts not keep repeating yourself sir!

decreasing to 20/mth does NOT increase the number of contributors proportionately and make up for funds. there is a small increase but many 50/mth people also switch to the lower amount (why should i if other's don't?- see your own example- you could have continued 20/mth- your ego that the option was closed to new people made you switch of entirely)
also many of the 20/mth contributors only notionally join up, they cancel the payments soon enough. the net results is a very poor flow of funds. i don't know how much more explicitly i can explain this.

you have the option of paypal to contribute smaller amounts. but you want the convenience too...lots of take...little give.
today the total recurring contribution barely funds our basic needs let alone lobbying. the fact is that if people don't step up, we can all shut down and go home. then let's stew with 1/1/00 or 2001 dates and wonder if someone will help us in the altruistic mode. or maybe you can then step up and give 20/mth again at that point? :)
as you well know the motivation to proactively do something is not high in our community. everyone states their own reasons- the result however is poor participation. you are of course aware that members miss the rally because they were sightseeing in the DC area...

as for the guy with 0 contributions...you know rajesh...everyone starts like that...this guys has spent a long time like that...maybe too long...but that's his personal deal. he can give a lower amount by paypal...he just can't make himself give at all. whatever, i'm not passing judgements actually- i'm pointing out to you as one who has been around- that it does NOT deserve a promotion star. if giving nothing deserves it, you might as well not be here, we might all as well leave too. because there is no free lunch...or dont you know that by now?

it would be nice for a change to see a senior member like you take proactive initiatives and help with the real job of convincing congress to provide relief rather than spend time constantly quibbling over donation amounts and repeating ad nauseum how you stopped your 20/mnth contribution because the option was closed to new contributors...we know already...
frankly we could do with a different contribution for once.

btw thanks much to all those who contributed in the recent drive, your help is much appreciated by everyone. please consider a recurring contribution. i know that on the face of it 50 sounds a lot, but think about it as one family meal/movie given up in a month for a cause that's very important to you....

Why is llc less risk? i know that the legal paper trail requirements are lower... but i dont know of any other major benefit than ability to share profit and loss disproportionate to ownership stake... which could be a double edged sword too... what risk is covered in llc that is not covered in corp?

in fact i chose corp because it was cheaper.... thats it.

I started an LLC earlier this year. Much easier and less risk with an LLC. It is still early to say whether the company will make it to higher grounds or not. But I sure am trying. I have me and my wife as manager members. No employees at the moment.

Best of luck to you all. GC or no GC, we can still make the entrepreneur dream happen.

Let me take a stab at it:

    EB2 I - June 2006, EB2 C - Dec 2006
    EB3 I/C - Dec 2003

I'm guessing with fewer jobs available for next year, there will be a huge leap - EB2 may move to 2006 and EB3 to 2003...this is just a guess, an attempt to speak things into existence :)

If America losses us, many of us are already planning to go back to India because of this GC process, they will also lose these kids who are bright future of America.

To me, more than anything, what the immigrant parents bring to the table, is the stable family life that they can provide to their children that is the best of eastern and western values. I hope this run continues and these kids excel in whatever they do.

as far as I know, you paying for H1b is not correct and is illegal and they will be accountable for this. Secondly, I heard the contract dont stand in court, especially when they are rude.

I think you have an option to report this employer to DOL/USCIS, for charging you the H1b expense. Companies should sponser H1b only when they genuinely need and can pay for the expense!

I am not a lawyer, so I recommend you consult one. Also feel free to communicate this issue to your employer and I guess you will be on your own!

I'm sure many Bollywood movies now have a bigger budget than Slumdog...

i was talking about an average hollywood budget film with marketing cost is close to about 85 million (lower average)

bollywood is about a 1/10th of that

EVERYONE picks their nose and EVERYONE farts in private and public.
    the above is a fact.

Most of the time it is discreet but there are times you get caught.

Guys if someone tells you stuff like why do "male desis..." it shows that they do not have a high opinion of desis.

So even if you visit the salon daily it will not be enough to change their perceptions.

Just work for those 6 H1B yrs and get the hell out of this country. Dont make a fool of urself and others by saying things like "at this moment" hez a citizen of another country blah blah blah...I know a few friends who just love India and would wanna go back after earning dollars for those 6 yrs H1B lets u work for. I appreciate such ppl...not ppl like u who try to "show off" that they r citizens of another country by shouting slogans and at the same time apply for permanent residencies with other countries...SHAME ON U PPL! U r a disgrace not only to US but to India and to the whole world as well.

and who the HELL r u kidding Mr Terrorist Sympathizer?

    It is typo.

I knew no one will believe it. But Ron is saying it from the beginning of this year that EB3I will move considerably briefly later this year. Check out the following thread.

    http://immigration-information.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6963

Ron's Quote: I think that we will see quota relief this year. If so, your priority date will become current this year. That's the good news. The bad news is that this has nothing whatsoever to do with CIS processing, which will not only remain slow, but will undoubtedly get slower.

Anyone familiar with the 'Quota Relief'? Pls throw some light.

    SVN,

this poll is a good idea to understand what most of the members expect from CORE. I for one am looking for any updates about (1) new bills being proposed that we can support - calls, faxes etc and (2) any infomation that can help to "predict" whats happening with USCIS efforts to use all visa # (yeah, sorry.. had to use predict and USCIS in same sentence) (3) updates on efforts towards FOIA, country caps remoal, capture of unused #s, .... and anything and everything you can throw at me about immigration...

but I also understand that most of these lobbying efforts are done in the back ground and its not good idea to share anything in these times. who knows, may be there is an anti-immigrant lurking around (ofcourse paying $$ to become Donor, become senior member whatever) to get inside information. I would rather trust the CORE to do their work and give me directions when they see fit.. like meeting local senators etc..

transparancy is good as long as it doesn't hurt the cause. I agree with the fact that we pooled $10K in March for FOIA and core gave the game plan and now everyone who contributed wants to know. fine. but you can't expect core to have a goal a month just to get contributions, this is a grass-roots organization and any highly skilled legal immigrant should be able to donate $25 without waiting for updates every week.. I don't think asking updates every week because you contributed $25 or $50 is fair.. just my thoughts..

And your point in this post to helping IV is? IV admins are more mature than to read my ideas as a lecture.

Ya, expect others to show maturity while you continue to be a child.

I know, it is unfair and frustrating. But from legal point of view, you are mixing Employment Laws with Immigration Laws.

    .

These ppl are talking about giving amnesty to ILLEGALS...let me repeat it.. amnesty=award for being ILLEGAL. They have done that before and all of a sudden we F'KIN LEGAL TEMP WORKERS from India/China have to worry about the LEGAL aspect of filing a law-suit.

Something is seriously screwed up with this. This is no different than a pseudo-SLAVERY. Now all of a sudden most of you will say, no one put a gun on your head to work. Ofcourse not, but why hell do they create a dual intent H1FU?K Visa where they show you the carrot and create a indentured servant system and discriminate on the basis of the country of your birth. It is discrimination. Trust me when there was SLAVERY in the US , it was defined LEGAL.

    Guys!!!

No point in showing frustration. Its not our birth right. We all were well educated before we came in here. Situation changes. And system makes an adjustment. Dont blame your country( I am also from India), for no one asked us to move out. There are so many nice positions available to work for. More than 80% of us found here a better oppurtunity, because there were no competition at all in getting jobs. 1st come 1st serve.

So do not complain. They do not have any urgency to hand us over the GCs. We can only request them to do the needful on the basis of our sorry state of affairs. Again, we are still at their mecrcy.

So stop complaining. Either wait and support IV or boot out.

Very well said..I have many desi ppl at my work place who gag about H1b slavery blah-blah..Not giving GC early..

People need to understand. (Offcourse its frustrating to wait for..but no one forced us to stay here..or come here)

If you are interested in the lawsuit please contact AILF now and send them your details in the form provided on IV homepage. IV spoke with AILA today and currently they are screening the cases of several people who came forward to become plaintiffs. They will try to showcase the most compellinig stories in their suit.
