****Apartment Combats Dog Poo With DNA Testing.
(Residents Must Provide DNA Sample For Apartment Database.)
LEBANON, N.H. -- An apartment complex in New Hampshire has turned to technology to combat an age-old problem -- dog poop.
The manager of the Timberwood Commons in Lebanon is taking action against pet poo scofflaws in a manner befitting "CSI." She bought commercial DNA kits and will soon be testing the droppings.
"I think the DNA is a little, ah, way over the top," said resident Billy Clough, who was quick to add that it's not the worst thing. "Coming out in your dress shoes first thing in the morning and step in a pile, that's no fun."
Residents have been told that they must submit a sample of their dog's DNA for the apartment database. If an offending lawn lump is found, a sample must be taken and sent off to a lab to be matched.
The technocratic manager said she hasn't decided what to do if a resident is caught.
