The real problem has been the l1 visa..and ignorant americans do not know the difference and they think everything is h1b but it is the L1 which has caused wages to drop....

Experiences of friends says - blue collar, jobs that Canadian do not want to do you, you are more than welcome.
But dont ever try to get a White collar job... And if you want to - work as Software engineer - and forget of any career development....

Check ICICI. I think it is called a NRE account. You can fund it in Dollars and Rupees and it could be repatriated in Dollars. So just open the account and have them deposit the monies India, you can draw it here. This kind of account is for NRI's who earn an income in India and want to access it here.
There is a limit I think but it must be like $25K..

I am not sure if it is as difficult as is everyone's impression in this thread.

There were strict repatriation rules in the days when $s were in demand in India. These days RBI wishes there were less $s in the market. One of the reasons why the outflow is liberalized.

BTW Slate ( 54 W 21st St) is also a good place to hang out... they pool tables/ping pong good music too

Technically, you are right. But on the other hand, it was at a time when one had to wait at the most 6 months for AOS.
But, for people from India, on EB categories, the wait is not months, its in YEARS. So, its irrational to go by whats written there.
On the other hand: I think we must request USCIS to recognize this underlying problem with EB folks that are primarily from India. They must print an exception on the AP for India and exclude the wording "for emergency purpose only". I don't know if USCIS has the discretionary power to amend minor changes.
If AOS takes many years, then keep the non-immigrant visa, so that no need to worry about AP.

Come on folks participate in this poll and drop in for the meet. If I can make it to the meet by commuting for almost 2 hrs (one way) what is stopping folks who are working few subways stops away from penn st or GCT :confused:

Remember in life you have to have an attitude of respecting others, if u think you need to be treated specially cause you have lived in America 10yrs then u would be definitely disappointed. A lot of my friends have relocated to India and I am too early next year. The only answer is attitude.
But there are cases where you expect to be treated like a human , and you are not. That is the most difficult thing for some who returned and regret doing so.
