****Colorado Supreme Court To Hear Ward Churchill Case!
(Churchill Trying To Get Job Back At CU.)
DENVER -- Colorado's Supreme Court has agreed to hear an appeal from a former University of Colorado professor trying to get his job back after he was terminated during a public outcry for his essay comparing some Sept. 11 victims to a Nazi.
A jury in July 2009 found that the school unlawfully fired Ward Churchill.
However, the Denver District Court judge on the case then ruled in favor of the school, saying it was entitled to "quasi-judicial immunity" and awarded Churchill $1 in damages.
The judge refused to reinstate Churchill. In November, the Colorado Court of Appeals agreed.
The Colorado Supreme Court on Tuesday announced that it agreed to hear the case.
Churchill's termination in 2007 came after an essay he wrote describing some victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks as "little Eichmanns," a reference to Adolf Eichmann, the Nazi leader who helped orchestrate the Holocaust.
CU wants Churchill to pay the $52,000 the school spent fighting his wrongful termination lawsuit.
