Friday= Free Press Shift
Saturday = Volunteering for the Special Olympics, followed by shooting a Bar Mitzvah
Sunday = Free Press Shift
Both shifts on Friday & Sunday saw me shooting Winnipeg Goldeyes games at Canwest Park. Shooting baseball was a first for me. I didn't realize that 1/1000 shutter speed wasn't enough to capture a fast ball mid air (first photo), and this was the first time I shot at ISO 800 in the middle of a sunny day to capture ball on bat again. I did manage to get a few ball on bat photos, and tried manual focusing to get only the ball in focus (fourth shot) while the pitcher was practicing between innings. I found both games extremely slow paced, which frustrated me a bit because good shots were few and far between, and I of course had to leave early to make it in time for the next assignment. You do always have to have your eye on the ball, as there were two close calls with stray balls one of which I stopped with my foot, the other missed my torso by about five feet after hitting a pole of the dugout.
