I've always kind of talked down
Kings of Leon because when I saw them open for the Strokes in 2003, their Southern brand of garage rock left me uninspired. Today they're everywhere; they even won a Grammy in 2009, which the Strokes have yet to do... Thank you, crazy academy.
Over the weekend I went to Urban w/ Kaitlyn and Gabrielle, and while pulling clothes off racks, I recognized
KOL on the overhead speakers. The song "Knocked Up" floored me with its sexiness and fatalism and wistfulness all in one. The next day I bought the album
Because of the Times (2007) and it reminds me of 90's rock a little bit; I hear 3eb, Smashing Pumpkins atmospheric guitars, Filter, and even a little bit of Soundgarden. Anyway the verdict is still out, but I may cut KOL some slack next time I'm asked for my opinion.
