Anyhoo I have been trying out some homemade hair masks and I have now picked my favourite ish three. I've tried my best to pick ones that are good for all hair types. The best thing about the three that I have chosen is they will either be in your cupboard or they are dirt cheap - less than £1. So here are the three that I've tried.......
Egg Whites
- Use 3 egg whites whisk them in a bowl add 4 spoonfuls of water
- I added half a squeezed lemon just to give it a hint of smell
- I made sure my hair was shampoo'd and conditioned
- Apply the egg white mixture onto clean wet hair - it does get messy so do it whilst relaxing in the bath
- Wrap your hair in a towel and leave for about 30 minutes
- Once 30 minutes has passed rinse out (luke warm water), I used conditioner to ensure it was all out
Eggs are protein so when you use it on your hair its for strengthening it up . The protein helps prevent breaking of the hair . Protein is good if you use alot of color or heating tool on your hair . I'd recommend using it if you have quick thick, dry and coloured hair. It's not going to change your hair overnight but it is a saviour if you have run out of your hair mask and its not pay day yet. It left my hair feeling so soft just like I had been to the hairdressers. I'm glad I added the lemon as the smell of eggs makes me feel a bit sick.
Aspirin
- Applied on clean wet hair
- I crushed 5 aspirin tablets in a half a cup of warm water with a few squeezes of shampoo
- Apply all over the head focus on massaging the scalp if you have bad dandruff
- Wrap in a towel for 5-10 minutes so it can settle onto your scalp
- Rinse clean and rewash
The texture of my hair was the same as normal but I noticed that my scalp was less stressed. I will be doing this treatment twice a month as it really did help my scalp.
Olive Oil and Honey
- Put 3 tablespoons of honey with 4 tablespoons of olive oil into a bowl and mix
- Apply to clean wet hair focusing on the ends
- Either wrap hair in towel or put on a shower cap
- Leave for 15 minutes
- Shampoo and rinse well
This made my hair feel amazing! Olive Oil contains vitamin E and anti-oxidants so its a great food for the hair. This treatment isn't for everyone though as it may be heavy for fine hair. It does give a great shine just ensure that you wash it out completely or your hair will become very greasy once dry.
