Weather Underground, ACORN and Obama: From Pitching Bombs to Pitching Policy

"...Weathermen advocated the overthrow of the government of the United States and the system of capitalism; toward that end, they carried out a campaign of bombings, jailbreaks, and riots."
--From Weather Underground

Bring the War Home

EX-WEATHER UNDERGROUND: What Are They Doing Today?
BILL AYERS, BERNADINE DORHN, ZACH POLLET, WADE RATHKE, DRUMMOND PIKE:
MAKING THE TRANSITION FROM VIOLENT OVERTHROW TO TAKEOVER from WITHIN

What do you do if you're a spoiled rich poser with time on your hands in the 1960s and 1970s?

For some, that question was answered by joining the Weather Underground--The Weathermen.

"...Weathermen advocated the overthrow of the government of the United States and the system of capitalism; toward that end, they carried out a campaign of bombings, jailbreaks, and riots."

Since armed overthrow of the US government and capitalism is so passe, so 1960s, the Weathermen moved on to other pursuits.

Perhaps, like the overthrow of the US government and capitalism by other means?

Keep in mind, ACORN is founded by these former Weather Underground. Even Progressives for Obama is Ayers and Dohrn founded. Project vote was founded by Zach Pollett. Tom Hayden ,Senator, founder of MoveOn.org, former husband of Jane Fonds, is former Weather Underground. Wade Rathke, founder of Acorn, is another one. So is Drummond Pike. Pike founded Tides.
--FBI Agent Talking About Bill Ayers. (video).

More to the point, how did the current president of the United States, Barack Obama, come to be surrounded and influenced by members of an organization that declared war on the United States of America in the 1960s?

WHERE ARE THEY TODAY?

Where are the former brothers-in-arms of the Weather Underground and what are they doing today? Let's take a look.

  1. Bill Ayers was the son of Commonwealth Edison Chairman and CEO Tom Ayers.

Much has been written (see links below) about the relationship between former Weather Underground leader, Bill Ayers, and President Barack Obama. Much of what the mainstream press wrote before the 2008 US election was apologia, often using the famous Obama quote that Ayers was "just some guy from my neighborhood".

    * Obama’s Ties to 1970’s Domestic Terrorist Bill Ayers: Disassociation and Little Condemnation
    * Barack Obama, Bill Ayers: NY Times Continues to Whitewash Obama-Ayers Connection

The big question unasked by the media is if Barack Obama met Bill Ayers during the time both were in the Columbia University community at the same time that a splinter group of the Weathermen was still actively planting bombs. While the possibility has been suggested in blogs, there does not appear to be any record of any media directly asking Obama if he met Ayers in New York and if such a relationship spurred Obama to travel to Chicago to begin his career as a community organizer.
---Bob Owen, Ayers-Dohrn-Obama Tie Shouldn’t Be Dismissed; Oct. 6, 2008

  2. BERNADINE DORHN

    Bernadette Dorhn
[ABOVE: Bernadine Dorhn, former Weather Underground terrorist, Michelle Obama colleague and Obama babysitter.]

From Wikipedia: "Bernadine Ohrnstein in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1942 and grew up in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, an upper-middle-class suburb of Milwaukee.

1995: Barack Obama launches his political career in a "coming out" party held in the home of Bernadette Dorhn and husband, Bill Ayers.
March 2009: Law authorities in San Francisco hold a press conference indicating that Dorhn was responsible for planting a pipe bomb that killed a SF police officer in 1970.
March 2009: Obama's Justice Department, tells SFPD not to comment on the case.

    ALSO:
    * Eric Holder, Justice Department Investigating William Ayers for 1970 Cop Killing Bombing?
    * Time Bomb

It was on Feb. 16, 1970, Sgt. Brian V. McDonnell of the San Francisco Police Department was killed by shrapnel from an anti-personnel bomb planted on a window ledge at the force's Park Station. The pipe bomb was filled with heavy metal staples and lead bullet projectiles. Another officer, Robert Fogarty, received serious wounds to his face and legs, and was partially blinded in the attack.

WND reported just months ago when top law enforcement officers in San Francisco signed a letter accusing Ayers and Dorhn of being directly behind the bombing, but the Obama Justice Department then told them not to comment on the case.

At that press conference March 12, directed by activist Cliff Kincaid of America's Survival Inc, the leaders of the San Francisco Police Officers' Association made public a letter pointing a finger at Ayers and Dohrn that demanded those responsible for the bombing be brought to justice.
--New report adds to evidence against Dohrn

It's not known how much influence the Obama's former babysitter has these days. Probably, as has been the case with other associations, no more than the president is publicly willing to admit.

  3. Zach Pollet

Former Weatherman, Zach Pollet, became ACORN's political director and the head of ACORN's Project Vote, now embroiled in voter fraud investigations in several states.

Zach Pollett, for instance, was Project Vote’s executive director and Acorn’s political director, until July, when he relinquished the former title. Mr. Pollett continues to work as a consultant for Project Vote through another Acorn affiliate.
--ACORN: Who Funds the Weather Underground’s Little Brother? by Matthew Vadum

Obama has admitted to working for Project Vote in 1992 when he ran a “successful voter registration drive”. He claims on his Fight The Smears website, “ACORN was not part of Project Vote”.

He was technically right: ACORN was not a part of Project Vote. Project Vote was a part of ACORN.

ACORN Watch: Project Vote, partisan antics, and illegality

Is Project Vote another example of "taking over the US government by other means?"

  4. Wade Rathke

Former Weatherman Rathke is the founder of Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now (ACORN).

The group has had its federal funding cut within the last several days over charges of widespread corruption among many of its affiliate offices across the country. The organization was captured on video advising a pair of undercover journalists from Big Government.com on how to evade taxes and set up a brothel featuring underage child sex slaves.

Rathke and brother, Dale, have left ACORN after a nearly-$1 million embezzlement scandal. He then founded--surprise--ACORN International.

    FOR MORE:
For Acorn Sting information: Big Government Exclusives
Google "Wade Rathke" and "Big Government.com" and you'll turn up hundreds of references.

  5. Drummond Pike

Pike, the director of the Tides Foundation, a George Soros-sponsored distributor of financial support to ACORN and its affiliates, among others.

Son of a wealthy investment banker, Pike is another child of privilege who sought to bring down that system so that community-unapproved 'others' couldn't duplicate his family's feat of creating wealth.

For more, see Drummond Pike at Undue Influence.

Like most of the other Weathermen, Pike makes a killing in his pursuit of helping the poor--in Pike's case, somewhere between $400,000-500,000/year.

SO HOW DID THE PRESIDENT GET INVOLVED WITH SO MANY MEMBERS OF THE WEATHER UNDERGROUND?

Question

How did the president come to be surrounded by this web of 1960s radicals who advocated violent overthrow of the US government, the "re-education" of capitalists and the "elimination" of 25 million Americans when they took over? [Obama, Bill Ayers: Ayers Wanted to Kill 25 Million Die-Hard Capitalists]

One clue: he's worked with many of them in the past.

Just look for the union label
In the mid 1990s, ACORN and the SEIU partnered with other leftist groups to help form the Marxist New Party, a political coalition. In 1995, Obama sought out their nomination. He was successful in obtaining that endorsement and used a number of New Party volunteers as campaign workers.

ALSO: Barack Obama, Socialist: Obama a Member of Socialist New Party.

This particular part of Obama's past was studiously ignored by a media that traded its traditional vetting responsibilities for a chance to elect "one of their own". In addition, the media attacked any (read: Sarah Palin) who had the bad taste to bring this past to the attention of the public.

Big Media was largely successful in this task. That Obama had been a member of the Socialist New Party and ran under their banner was practically impossible to find anywhere except on the Internet.

Whenever one of these associations becomes more than the traditional Mouthpiece Media can bear and the president is asked about them, he usually responds in one of two ways.

1. He blames his staff.

From Obama's Inability to Hire Good Help Rears Its Head … Again:

We started covering Sen. Barack Obama's inability to hire good staffers in June 2007, when he blamed staffers for some opposition research trying to link Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, to outsourcing in India; for injecting some venom in the David Geffen/Hillary Clinton fight; and for missing an event with firefighters in New Hampshire.

In December, we noted again that Obama was blaming the answers on a 1996 questionnaire on a staffer; and was blaming his touring with "cured" ex-gay gospel singer Donnie McClurkin (which antagonized gays and lesbians) on bad vetting by his staff.

Those five buck-passing incidents were apparently not enough.

ABC's Jake Tapper eventually lists 14 incidents where the President, when caught or confronted with an unpleasant fact, blamed his staff for the problem.

Memo to President Obama: order a plaque to hang in the Oval Office:
"Good help is really really hard to find. Really."

2. He didn't know.
From DBKP's Barack Obama: Senator I-Didnt-Know, Nov 2 2008:
There have been other instances of Barack Obama pleading ignorance about unpleasant information once its reported (Father Michael Pfleger, for one).

Which may lead some to affectionately refer to Barack Obama as “Senator I-Didn’t-Know.”
On his release of medical, college and university records, Obama’s answer is silence.
When speaking of the future and his plans, Obama’s rhetoric is precise.

On information unearthed about his past, his response has many times been, “I didn’t know.”

MORE on the I-Don't-Know meme: Acorn Who?

Mr. Obama took great pains to act as if he barely knew about Acorn. In fact, his association goes back almost 20 years. In 1991, he took time off from his law firm to run a voter-registration drive for Project Vote, an Acorn partner that was soon fully absorbed under the Acorn umbrella. The drive registered 135,000 voters and was considered a major factor in the upset victory of Democrat Carol Moseley Braun over incumbent Democratic Senator Alan Dixon in the 1992 Democratic Senate primary.

Mr. Obama's success made him a hot commodity on the community organizing circuit. He became a top trainer at Acorn's Chicago conferences. In 1995, he became Acorn's attorney, participating in a landmark case to force the state of Illinois to implement the federal Motor Voter Law. That law's loose voter registration requirements would later be exploited by Acorn employees in an effort to flood voter rolls with fake names.

Many in the country and a few in the media are starting to wonder the president's push for rapid passage of bills that would fundamentally change the country. Changes that would not only limit individual freedom in the name of the "collective good", but also, some say, destroy capitialism.

If only the ones in the media had been more curious in 2008, the rest of the country wouldn't be so puzzled now.

Obama Birth Certificate: WND, Kenya and African Press International

Obama Birth Certificate, Citizenship:
Was Obama born in Kenya?
Is Obama a "natural-born" citizen, as per the U.S. Constitution?
Is Something "Big" About to Break in this Story?

UPDATE #1 - working

Questions Surrounding the Constitutional Eligibility
Of Barack Obama Heats Up

Is something big about to break in the Obama birth certificate story?

The questions surrounding the constitutional eligibility of Barack Obama to serve as U.S. president continue. After abating a bit immediately prior and after the election two weeks ago, more information has surfaced which has returned the issue to the blogosphere.

The Mainstream Media not only blacked out the issue after June 2008, they actually contributed to the Obama's campaign effort to cast anyone with questions about Obama and the many missing pieces of his past as "smear merchants" and "rumor-mongers".

Three items, in particular, have caught our attention:

Question

The Obama Birth Certificate Questions

  1. World Net Daily has really ramped up their coverage of the Obama birth certificate issue today. WND's front page contains almost nothing else but stories on the matter. Such as:
    * Rathergate II: Certification of Live Birth a clear forgery
    * Proofin' the prez: Who's in charge? Constitutional lawyer says electors have duty to investigate citizenship
    * Obama's birthplace heats up Liddy show
    * Is he or isn't he? The debate over Obama's eligibility

World Net Daily is the home to Dr. Jerome Corsi, author of Obama Nation, and a visitor to Kenya who was ejected from the country quickly upon arriving weeks ago.

Does World Net Daily have something that it is about to break on this story?

We don't know. But we notice things.

  2. The Kenyan Ambassador.

Earlier today we provided a link to a video of the Kenyan ambassador stating that Barack Obama's birthplace in Kenya is already getting plenty of visitors since he became president. [MORNING INTELL: Kenya, Iran, Israel, PC Nazis, Natalie Holloway]

This slip--or not--of the tongue, combined with Justice Clarence Thomas' conference scheduled for December 5 on Denofrio v. Wells, has added fuel to the Obama citizenship fire. [Obama Birth Certificate, Citizenship: SCOTUS Conference Scheduled for Dec 5]

Today, WND published another article claiming to debunk the Certificate of Live Birth which the Obama campaign featured on its fightthesmears.com site. [Rathergate II: Certification of Live Birth a clear forgery] From the WND piece by Janet Porter:

It's Rathergate all over again with more amiss than a 1970s Selectric typewriter. But before I tell you what the experts found, let me ask you a few questions:

    1. If you were a natural born American citizen and had it within your means to quiet all the lawsuits and questions with proof, would you do it?

    2. If you were a natural born American citizen, would you spend thousands of dollars to fight the legal cases against you, or would you simply answer the legitimate question of whether you meet the constitutional requirements for office?

    3. If you were a natural born American citizen, would you forge a document called a "Certification of Live Birth" and tell the public it was a real "birth certificate"?

If someone were to violate the law by manufacturing a forgery in order trick the public, would that be enough evidence for members of Congress to conduct hearings and for a court to issue an order for the critical records, including the original long-form birth certificate (signed by the doctor) to ensure that the U.S. constitutional requirements for office were not violated? After all, Congress is sworn to uphold and defend that Constitution, and the justices on the U.S. Supreme Court are "guardians" of the Constitution. That's their job, isn't it?

These are much the same questions that others, as well as DBKP, have been asking. In fact, in Obama Birth Certificate Federal Lawsuit: The Curious Behavior of the Obama Campaign, we observed:

    Quiz time for DBKP readers.

Let's say you're a Democrat and let's say you're running for president of the United States.

You're a likable guy and are doing well--the New York Times and AP think you're peachy--but there have been whispers of whether or not you are constitutionally qualified.

A prominent Democrat files suit in Federal court asking you to provide proof, to settle the matter once and for all.

    What do you do?

    • A. Provide the court with the three documents in question and go back to shaking hands, making promises and smiling for the cameras.
    • B. Provide images of one of the documents to a friendly website to post, but not to the court.
    • C. Ignore the request, then make a motion to dismiss the case, in lieu of providing the proof.
    • D. In the meantime, quietly, post a notice at your website, FighttheSmears.com that you had dual citizenship with Kenya.
    • E. Hire the top gun attorney from the Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) to fight the case.
    • F. File a Joint Motion for Protective Order to Stay Discovery Pending a Decision on the Motion to Dismiss (which was) filed on 09/24/08, thereby putting the matter off until--hopefully--after the election.

Time's up. What do you do?

    Most readers sensibly chose A.

    But, if you're Barack Obama, you chose answers B, C, D, E and F.

A curious response for a campaign interested in "fighting the smears".

Suffice it to say: not everyone bought into the Certificate of Live Birth explanation by the campaign. But more proof was needed because Obama wasn't allowing anyone to see his original "vault" copy of his birth certificate for some unknown reason.

  3. African Press International is preparing for, what they claim will be the airing of the Michelle Obama phone conversation that they claimed they had with her on October 15.

API claims that Ms. Obama raises citizenship issues with the African Press International correspondent on the phone call. The release and airing of the audio tape of that phone call is reported to be imminent.

We could write much about the API situation, but will hold off a while longer.

But perhaps, not too much longer.

We've given our reasons for holding out the belief that African Press International's version of the Michelle Obama phone call was true. The reasons are outlined in several of the links below.

    Question

So what's the scoop? Why all of the attention all of a sudden on the Obama birth certificate--especially from World Net Daily, which has had the resources to pursue the story.

WND also has had something going for it in this story that the MSM didn't: the desire to to uncover the truth.

Is something big going to break in this story in the next 24-48 hours?

We do not know for sure. But we do notice things.

We have continued--even after African Press International didn't air their tapes previously--to follow and monitor the story. We still have many nagging doubts over an issue that could be settled quite quickly and easily: the release of the original Obama birth certificate.

    But it hasn't been.

Like World Net Daily, we've remained suspicious and quietly pursued whatever leads we had. Many were dead ends. Some remain promising.

We try to verify everything we report. When something is a rumor, we report it. When we have access to information that we can't publish, but feel we're on the right trail, we'll report it to the best of our ability.

If we report something and the source turns out to be a false one, we'll report that also.

We respect our readers' ability to make judgments for themselves. Some will agree, some will disagree.

    That's called a discussion and it's healthy.

It's also something not often found in the MSM.

Is something big going to break in the Obama birth certificate story in the next 24-48 hours?

We do not know for sure.

    But we do notice things.

African Press International, Michelle Obama Tapes: Fox News Denies Story

Your Ad Here

African Press International
Michelle Obama Audio Tapes

The [Almost] Final Chapter

Fox News Denies Negotiations or Airing of API Tapes

The final verdict is in on the African Press International story about it receiving a phone call from Michelle Obama that was, in API's words, "shocking".

That verdict does not bode well for African Press International. We will classify the whole episode "bizarre--though entertaining to some".

ALSO at DBKP on African Press International and Michelle Obama:

* African Press International, Michelle Obama: API Says Discussions with Fox News Are Happening
* African Press International, Michelle Obama Phone Call: Tapes Released Later Today
* Michelle Obama Calls African News Organization Over Obama Birth Certificate Reporting - UPDATED
* African Press International, Michelle Obama: Editor Says He Has Audio Tape of Conversation
* African Press International: Open Letter to Michelle Obama from API Chief Editor

The African Press International story started 16 days ago when API posted a story concerning a phone they allege occurred between one of their correspondents and Michelle Obama that had elements which API called "shocking".

API said that in the phone conversation, Mrs. Obama referred to Americans opposed to her husband's candidacy as "racists".

DBKP reported the story. We've since received emails, pro and con, about the alleged phone call and the API stories, which have turned into an Internet saga.

API said they recorded the call. Then that the audio of the tape would be released. Then, after delays, we took a powder on the story, deciding to wait and see.

During that entire time, we've been in contact with several individuals who have been involved in various aspects of the API negotiations. Their opinions of API changed--sometimes over the course of a single.

So, we waited.

The following story was posted on the API website today.

API/Fox News deal: Sean Hannity show and Greta Van Susteren’s show “On the Record” to air the Michelle Obama tape in less than 24 hours.

The agreement stipulates that any information on the day and hour the tape will be aired will only be announce 15 minutes to the airing time. This was agreed upon to avoid any pressure being directed to Fox News Network by individuals who would want to get the details about the tape in question.

The airing of the tape can take place any time from this day and due to its sensitivity, people who will inquire from Fox News and API for details will either get a no comment answer or that there is no agreement on the table.

Which invited the following responses, which we noted.

From This is JUST A LIE. IT IS THAT SIMPLE.

READ BELOW: THIS IS SIMPLY A LIE ABOUT ME AND I HAVE NO IDEA IF A LIE ABOUT FOX AND / OR SEAN HANNITY BECAUSE I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THIS STUFF BELOW IS. I HAVE NO IDEA WHO API (AFRICAN PRESS) IS…this is the first I have heard about them….BUT I DO WANT TO “KILL THE VIRUS” LYING ABOUT ME. (Note that I lifted only part of the quote below because I just wanted to correct the lie about me..the website goes on and on.)

Fox News Denies Involvement with Supposed Michelle Obama Audio Tape:

Exclusive: Fox News denies any involvement in the purchase of an audio tape apparently featuring an unflattering portrayal of Michelle Obama. In a widely-circulated Web post, an organization called African Press International claims to be in negotiations with the network to air the tape.

An FNC spokesman tells TVNewser: "API's dubious claim that FOX News has purchased a supposed audio tape to be aired prior to Election Day is absolutely false."

Today's post on the API Website reads:

A final agreement has been reached between African Press International (API) and Fox News Network (USA) on the dates to air the Michelle Obama tape arising from a discussion Mrs. Obama had with the API two weeks ago. The show will take place any day/time from now, with a 15 minutes alert on when it is to take place. Other programmes will be interrupted. This is a precaution taken to avoid interference from any quarter. In the agreement, Fox News Network will broadcast 39 minutes of the 54 minutes long tape.

ABC's Jake Tapper talked with Obama campaign senior adviser Robert Gibbs last week who told him no such tape exists. "It's bogus, she didn't call, it's all a lie," Gibbs says.

The entire episode seems strange: strange that API would post their latest story.

Strange because the rest of their posts, covering a multitude of stories from Africa, suggest no hoaxes, no scams.

We can't divulge the various opinions and back-and-forth for the emails we received over the last week. But we will say this: confusion among the various parties, including API reigned.

We will now post the following API information, plus and minus.

  • API believes they talked to Michelle Obama.
  • API has audio tapes of something.
  • API is a small organization and is not usually in the spotlight.
  • Some parts of API's story checked out. DBKP got proof--from some individuals that API referred to in their subsequent stories--that confirmed parts of API's stories.
  • DBKP received proof that these individuals were corresponding directly with API, as reported by API.
  • Apparently, the editor-in-chief of African Press International had made arrangements to fly to New York City. API reported that this was for an appearance on Fox News.
  • Previously, DBKP--despite numerous attempts--could not confirm or deny that API ever was in negotiations with anyone at Fox News.

Now, on the API minus side:

  • African Press International has not posted an audio tape of their alleged conversation, 16 days after the fact.
  • Numerous delays have occurred in the API timeline.
  • Individuals DBKP trusts have expressed doubts in writing to us with proof.
  • API's latest story about the appearance of the tapes on Fox News, which has been denied officially by a Fox News spokesman.

As always, readers can make their own judgments.

Our judgment, at present time?

The phone call could have taken place. African Press International could have audio tapes of the phone call. African Press International may believe it had an agreement with Fox News.

African Press International did receive emails of a harassing nature, as well as threats--from both sides of the political spectrum.

Is the story true?

As we reported sixteen days ago: we don't know.

The API story could be true.

However, based on 1) what we know from the latest reports from both African Press International and Fox News; and, 2) can report from the many off-the-record accounts we've received, we are throwing the cold water of hard evidence on the story.

We won't label it a "hoax" or "scam": there's no evidence any money was to be gained by African Press International. That failure to try and quickly cash in when API could have--along with their past 1000+ stories over the last two years--are two of the reasons we won't slam the lid on the coffin of this strange story.

However, we'll note that we wouldn't be betting the house on the story.

If there are further developments that DBKP can confirm, we'll, of course, report them. We will publish a complete wrap-up and timeline to the story--most probably in the next several days, time allowing.

For now, we'll quote a line from one of our off-the-record email conversations with one of the principals.

"This story will probably end up in the October Surprise graveyard."

Obama Birth Certificate: State Lawsuits Spread

Obama Birth Certificate

State Courts See More Lawsuits over Obama Citizenship Issue

Got this from Yid with Lid, NRO Cover's Obama's Birth Certificate-Lawsuits Spread to EIGHT States, who did yeoman's work in rounding up the lawsuits which have mushroomed over the last several days concerning the birth Certificate of Barack Obama.

Good Day for those looking to find out the truth about Senator Obama's Birth Certificate. Its finally growing beyond the "blogisphere." Andy McCarthy of NRO Picked it up today and the number of Law Suits is up to eight States. Senator, if all IS kosher with your "Certificate of Live Birth" then why don't you tell Hawaii to release your Official Document?:

Turning the Page from Campaign Finance Fraud . . . [Andy McCarthy]

YWL lists the lawsuits in the state courts:

  • (HI) Andy Martin at email: AndyMart20@aol.com
  • (WA) Steve Marquis email: peoplesvoice@peoplespassions.org ; website: www.peoplespassion.org
  • (CA) David Archbold email darchbo1@gmail.com
  • (GA) Tom Terry email: kingdommatters@gmail.com
  • (PA) Philip Berg email: philjberg@obamacrimes.com ; website: www.obamacrimes.com
  • (NY) Dan Smith email: Dansmith1954@aol.com
  • (CT) Cort Wrotnowski email: Metaqubit@aol.com

While not found of court actions in general, all of this could have been avoided.

With the Obama website, "Fight the Smears.com" posting that Obama had dual citizenship with Kenya, questions were bound to arise.--questions which the campaign has sucessfully ignored thus far since posting the dual citizenship annnouncement.

Since the story is spreading rapidly over the last several days--Rush Limbaugh mentioned it yesterday, Michael Savage interviewed Phillip Berg last night and now NRO reporting on it--expect a curt denial from the campaign.

As well as the appropriate pieces in Big Media castigating any who have asked questions.

BERG v. OBAMA Federal Lawsuit

Jeff Schreiber at America's Right--who broke the Berg v. Obama lawsuit story on the Internet and has excellent coverage of the lawsuit has news. From Space Reserved for News on Court Order

Second, I was told yesterday afternoon that the order would likely be coming down either late yesterday--5:30 to 6:00 p.m.--or some time this morning. Obviously, Judge Surrick has the final word on this, and if he feels that he is not satisfied with his memorandum, especially considering the number of new filings this week, it may be later.

Schreiber also reports what may be a rightly called a bombshell:

Incidentally, Philip Berg was on Michael Savage's radio program last night and spoke about taped evidence, and sworn affidavits, that he has showing Obama's paternal grandmother in Kenya saying that she was present in the delivery room for his birth. I know for a fact that Berg does indeed have tapes of this kind in his possession -- but as the parts I heard were in a language I did not understand [and he was in the process of having translated], I cannot attest for sure that the tapes contain what Berg contends.

This is complete news to many--including DBKP.

AFRICAN PRESS INTERNATIONAL and MiCHELLE OBAMA tapes

There are so many conflicting stories on the African Press International story that we will refrain from comment until some hard info can be obtained.

DBKP has received emails with many claims. Some of these claims are very believable and come from sources that are credible. Some are not.

The only thing we know for sure is that World Net Daily is reporting that it has an unnamed source at Fox News that is saying that there are no negotiations with Fox News ongoing over the API tapes.

Fox News denies negotiating over 'Michelle Obama tapes':

"A Fox News official who requested anonymity said there simply were no negotiations with API over any tapes or any other issue."

The number of rumors and speculation over Barack Obama seems to have hit a hit point in the last few days. Rumors over such things as Obama's relationship with Frank Marshall Davis, parentage, and other issues has grown.

We don't put any stock in many of the rumors; but when information is kept from the public, the public will many times supply its own information. The secrecy surrounding the Obama medical, college and university records only fuels the speculation.

We will only remark: a wait and see attitude seems advisable--heavy on the "wait".

Obama Birth Certificate:
Berg v. Obama Federal Lawsuit News Update
African Press International News Update

* Ruling Possible today in Berg v. Obama?
* African Press International completes Arrangements for Legal Representation in North America

Updates to this story at: Obama Birth Certificate: Ruling in Berg v. Obama Expected In Next Two Days

There may be some movement in the federal lawsuit, Berg v. Obama, today.

Jeff Schreiber, a legal student who's also been covering the case from Philadelphia and has sources inside the federal courthouse is writing that there likely could be a ruling before this weekend.

From
Space Reserved for News on Court Order
:

"I have, from good and reliable sources, information suggesting that the Hon. R. Barclay Surrick will come down with an order and memorandum either on Thursday or Friday."

This space is reserved for news on that order. Therefore, unless something monumental occurs over the next two days, I will not be reporting anything further so as to reserve this spot for news regarding the decision in the Berg v. Obama case. It should be easier for everyone that you can simply check this part of the page for news of the order without having to wade through anything else.

Schreiber, who was the first to write about the Berg suit (Berg is demanding that Barack Obama supply the court with proof of his U.S. citizenship), has been the best source of news on Berg v. Obama.

Schreiber's site, America's Right, has a complete archive of the motions filed by both sides in the lawsuit and a trip through AR's archives, located on the right sidebar, will get readers up to speed on the case from the beginning.

Schreiber's best guess (he clearly labels it as one) has been that Berg lacks standing to sue Obama in federal court. From talking to his sources, Schreiber senses that the judge may surprise everyone on this point.

Common sense, for the past two months, has told me that Philip Berg's case will be eventually dismissed on grounds of lack of standing. Nevertheless, I have had a gut feeling that Judge Surrick may very well just surprise us all -- the information I have been getting over the past 24-36 hours reinforces that gut feeling.

Jeff Schreiber also tags this bit of info onto the above-cited post:

"Please refrain from calling the courthouse, as I am told that the phone calls are coming in at the rate of several dozen each day. And, as always, keep checking here at America's Right for updates, especially this crucial one. America's Right was the first to report on this lawsuit when it was filed on August 21, and I have no reason to believe that America's Right will not be the first to report on the judge's decision."

NOTES:

* DBKP has attempted to reach Phillip Berg over the last 24 hours, but Mr. Berg was out of his office yesterday, making the rounds of talk shows. Berg appeared on three different ones yesterday, including G.Gordon Liddy's.

* There have been two lawsuits in the states of Washington and Hawaii asking Obama to provide the secretary of state with basically the same information sought by Berg. According to reports, these cases would have a much better chance of success on the standing issue.

AFRICAN PRESS INTERNATIONAL

On the African Press International story (Michelle Obama's supposed phone conversation with a small African news agency), a much different update was being prepared than this one.

It has been nine days since African Press International claimed that Michelle Obama called one of its correspondents and made some controversial remarks. [Shocking development: Mrs Obama decides enough is enough: "My husband was born in Hawaii and adopted by his step father, does that make him unpatriotic; she asks", on a direct telephone to API.]

* African Press International: Open Letter to Michelle Obama from API Chief Editor

Some bloggers have grown impatient and washed their hands of the entire affair, pronouncing it a hoax.

These writers may very well be correct in their assessment.

Our opinion?

We really don't have one. We have no reason to disbelieve African Press International's account of the incident. The Obama campaign quickly issued denials to ABC and NRO concerning the story. That makes it a legitimate story in our minds, so we'll report on it.

DBKP was ready to join their ranks of those believing it was a hoax and decided to reserve judgment a bit.

Our reasoning?

We're here to report on the developments--if any--of this story. Is it a hoax? We repeatedly said: we don't know. We don't think anyone else at this point, outside of the principals involved, knows either. We'll let our readers make their own decisions about whether they believe or disbelieve the API stories.

That being said, DBKP has obtained information that legal representation for API for all of North America has been worked out and that the attorneys involved believe that they will have possession of the audio tapes later today.

From all accounts, API is described as a bunch of amateurs, unschooled in handling the unexpected attention their story brought them.

We've also received a few reports that several people have heard "snippets" from the tapes and that that they appear to be legitimate. We will caution:
  • We have no way of confirming this;
  • We have no way of knowing how these individuals arrived at their decision that they appeared legitimate; and,
  • We have no information on whether the individuals who've claimed they've heard the "snippets" of the audio have any particular background or expertise in validating or authenticating audio tapes.

We do have more reason to believe that whatever audio is available will be in the hands of attorneys in North America today.

The question of whether they are real or not would then have to be examined.

We will post more information as it becomes available and, as always, let our readers make their own judgments.

African Press International, Michelle Obama: Audio Tape of Phone Call to be Released Later Today

African Press International, Michelle Obama:
API to Release Audio of Phone Conversation Later Today

African Press International (API) insists that the air will be cleared today concerning their phone conversation with Michelle Obama.

API's latest story reveals that they will release the audio of the purported phone conversation on Tuesday at "1600 Norwegian time".

Update! API will come with more information on Michelle Obama tapes at 16.00 hours Norwegian time

API will reach out with important update to the readers at 16.00 hours Norwegian time. We have been through a lot of pressure after we published the story. The fact that some people want us to take decisions hurriedly does not help us much.

To those who want to listen and take us seriously:

The tapes are there and the truth must be told. If some people want to continue imagining that this may be an hoax or something connected with Nigerian scam, then let them continue believing so because we cannot force any one to believe in us.

There are those readers who have exercised their rights to doubt the story and there are those who believe that the story is true. API wishes to state once more that those who believe us will not be let down finally. We know that things have taken time but we would like you to know that API is not playing with the readers, we just decided to be careful because the same story will become very explosive when all unpublished contents come out.

There are a number of issues we want to clarify so that some commentators do not continue to mislead those readers who are interested in the truth in this Obama matter.

Some have stated that they have checked for information about API and that they are unable to find that API has existed since October 2006. There are those who claim that on the blog roll, the Rainbow Foundation shown there is bogus and we say their claim is saddening because they do so without knowing the real facts.

In API's original story last week, Michelle Obama allegedly discussed with the API correspondent many interesting things.

Is the story for real? Did it take place? DBKP does not know at this point.

Neither does anyone else, outside of the principals involved at this point.

More from the API story:

We clarify:

Rainbow Foundation was founded in Norway in 1995 and officially registered as NGO in the beginning of 1996 with the registration number shown on the top of this site. Rainbow still exists and continues to do a good job.

Rainbow Foundation, together with the Chief Editor of API initiated the establishment of API in the end of September 2006 and API became operational from October the same year. API has no problems using WordPress.com server because we find it very effective and we like it. Some are commenting that it is a cheap looking site but for us that matters less - it is the information we bring out to the readers that we consider to be of importance, not the way a site looks - if some people out there think we want a site that looks fancy, then they do not understand our operational methods and what we like to give priority. We are satisfied being here >: http://africanpress.wordpress.com and will continue using wordpress server because we find it fantastic and it serves our needs.

API is not in any way a scamming organization. We are genuine and those who believe in us make us proud and grateful. We will continue to bring news to the readers without favouring any political groups.

We would urge readers not to be negative when they do not have all the facts. We are not trying to get traffic to our site by constructing a story as some are trying to indicate.

Our important update will clear some of the things bothering some readers. We will not stop until the tapes are out there for the readers to judge for themselves.

Let there be known that we have genuine tapes and the person recorded is Michelle Obama, one who may become the next US First Lady.

African Press International has come in for some heavy flak for printing its original story, "Shocking development: Mrs Obama decides enough is enough: "My husband was born in Hawaii and adopted by his step father, does that make him unpatriotic; she asks", on a direct telephone to API." last week.

(ALSO at African Press International: The Obama tapes to be released)

It would be an understatement to say that the API website--which is hosted by WordPress--has been flooded with comments and traffic during the last five days.

The API story on Michelle Obama is different for a site which reports on such topics as "Sudan: Nine Chinese oil workers kidnapped" and "Tragedy: A former Kenya District Commissioner commits suicide".

Who is African Press International?

African Press International, in their own words:
"A “Daily Online News Channel” established on 30th.September 2006 by Rainbow Foundation (NGO) Reg.no. 976593510 and The Chief Editor who is a Member of Investigative Reporters and Editors".

The site, headquartered in Norway, has correspondents throughout Africa. These correspondents appear to be citizen-journalists in their respective countries.

From Will Michelle Obama tape 'change political atmosphere in America'? and African Press International's

"Those who do not support Obama are actively pushing for the release of the recordings also, and we understand them very well. In many telephone conversations with them we, however, get disturbed when we realize that most of them want the recordings to be released because they want to use it to stop Senator Obama from being elected president
. They state clearly that if the story is true and released now, the contents will sa[v]e America from a constitutional crisis that may come if things come out after the elections that proves Obama was adopted by a foreigner, thus, disqualifying him from the presidency," Korir wrote.

The statement confirmed that API "has recordings of the conversation between API and Mrs. Obama" and "we confirm that the audio will be released to the public."

"In the last 24 hours, API has been consulting legal advisers on the way forward in order to avoid being sued by the Obama camp. API has realized that the contents of the tapes if made public may change the political atmosphere in America for ever, especially in the next few days," the statement said.

"API now understands the impact of the statements made by Mrs. Obama. The American people have reacted in a way we in API would never have expected.

"Many have question[ed] why Mrs. Obama would choose a little known online media group instead of the American media. API was chosen because of a Nairobi contact that did not like the way API was covering Barack Obama using information collected from American media outlets. The Nairobi contact prevailed upon Mrs. Obama to talk to API," the statement said.

"The only thing API may have done wrong is not informing Mrs. Obama that the conversation was being recorded. This is why it is taking time to release the recording while consulting a legal team because API wants to be legally safe from any Obama camp law suit," Korir wrote.

"API is not out to convince the American public of anything. We do not want to influence the outcome of the U.S. presidential elections. API got a true story and published it. The fact that the story has caused a stir was unexpected, but that does not mean API must rush in a manner that will cause problems to itself, just to satisfy those who want the audio tapes so badly," the statement said. "When the legal concerns are cleared, which is happening in a short while, API will make public all the recordings available. This will also include comments, not yet published, which will most certainly put the Obama campaign spokesperson who had dismissed the story off balance.

"Even if our recordings or any other recordings had surfaced after the elections and if the contents were damaging to the elected person that still could have caused any elected president to vacate the White House. We all know that the tapes released in the U.S. in 1974 forced President Richard Nixon out of office. The truth is the truth. The tapes during Nixon time did not lie. The same here. The recordings that API will release soon will not lie to the American people. Most probably, it will change the political landscape, something the Americans should start getting prepared to face," Korir suggested.

More from Will Michelle Obama tape 'change political atmosphere in America'?

After the initial API report, Tommy Vietor, an Obama campaign spokesman, told National Review's Byron York the conversation didn't happen.

"The answer is no, it's not real, the report is made up. She did not speak to the organization," Vietor said, according to York's report on National Review Online's blog
"The Corner."

Korir, however, responded to WND's e-mail confirming the report is accurate.

"API hereby confirms to you that the story is true and if the huge interest on this particular story continues, we will post the recording on our website in the next immediate days," his e-mail said.

API asked Michelle Obama to comment on the detention of Corsi during his visit last week to Kenya, where he was investigating the presidential candidate's links to a controversial strongman serving as prime minister.

"When API asked Mrs. Obama to comment on why Dr. Corsi was arrested by the Kenyan government and whether she thought Kenya's prime minister, Mr. Raila Odinga, was involved in Dr. Corsi's arrest, she got irritated and simply told API not to dig [into] that which will support evil people who are out to stop her husband from getting the presidency," the publication reported.

Is the API story true?

DBKP has come under some fire for reporting on the African Press International stories--both from the Left and Right.

Some Obama supporters insist that the story is a scam: planted for nefarious purposes to damage the Obama campaign. According to this group, API's motivation is attention, smears, fun, profits, or [fill in the blanks].

We say: if the story is not true, there will be no damage done. The Obama campaign quickly denied the story, which came from, what some called "an obscure blog". The Obama campaign never bothered to deny or confirm the Larry Sinclair story, which was bogus.

Apparently, the Obama campaign takes the API story more seriously than it did the fantastic story of convicted conman, Larry Sinclair, about his 1999 wild nights of riding around in the back of a rented limo with Obama, engaging in cocaine and gay sex.

Some Obama detractors insist that the story is a scam: planted for nefariious purposes to damage Obama detractors who publish it. According to this group, API's motivation is to damage the credibility of Obama detractors.

We say: if the story is untrue, we fail to see how reporting on the story--on which DBKP has clearly stated our lack of confirmation--can damage credibility. If the story is true, we will report it. If it turns out to be untrue, we will also report that.

Unlike the Mainstream Media, which has lost both trust and customers by making the decisions its readers should make, our job here is neither to promote the story nor to debunk it--though if it turns out true, we will hammer on it.

If information proves it untrue, we will debunk it.

One comment: if Obama campaign had been forthright in its statements on the relationship between Barack Obama and Bill Ayers, we would put more stock in the campaign's almost-immediate denial.

Barack Obama himself, during the third debate, told John McCain to his face--and a national TV audience--that it was "absolutely untrue" that his first Illinois senate campaign was launched from domestic terrorist, Bill Ayers' living room.

Perhaps it was launched from Bill Ayers' kitchen, as John at Powerline mused.

But whatever contortions the Obama campaign might go through to justify that denial, it was grossly and willfully misleading.

That statement alone is proof enough to treat other statements about sensitive issues with a high degree of skepticism.

The Obama campaign's dogged refusal to release the Senator's medical and college records to the press also does not invite trust on their other claims. A press which clamored for John McCain's medical records in the Spring is silent on the matter of Obama medical records in the Fall.

Is the story about Michelle Obama calling African Press International and unloading on her husband's American opponents as "racist"?

We don't know at this point.

But we're going to find out soon--perhaps as soon as today.

African Press International:
An Open Letter to Michelle Obama

UPDATES at African Press International: Open Letter to Michelle Obama from API Chief Editor

"The intention of writing to you this open letter is to appeal to you to confirm that we had a talk because it is the only right thing to do now, so that we avoid any embarrassment should the whole tape be aired unedited."

BREAKING
Editor Addresses Open Letter to Michelle Obama
Concerning Her Phone Call to API

From African Press International Chief Editor KorirAn open letter to Michelle Obama after API’s discussion with a CIA official in Oslo:

I have decided to write this open letter and to refer you to our telephone conversation the day your husband was having a debate with his opponent in New York. This has to be an open letter because the story is already out there and many Americans are crying for the truth about what we discussed.

I know our discussion was not meant to harm your husband’s candidacy nor was it meant to derail the US Presidential elections in any way. We both know that our talk was - a sister to brother talk - black to black person talk - in the African perspective. The problem came later when we listened to the taped recording of our talk. API thought it wise to publish some of the contents that are not inflammatory. API did the best to select that which could not cause any chaos and we in API did not expect that waht we chose to publish would have the impact it now has had in the last five days.

Many Americans have surprised us in the way they take the interview very seriously. We want to respect them - as we have promised from day one - to let them know the truth in what transpired between yourself and us. We have realised that the American people want to know you well before you probably become their first Lady.

The intention of writing to you this open letter is to appeal to you to confirm that we had a talk because it is the only right thing to do now, so that we avoid any embarrassment should the whole tape be aired unedited. You are well aware of our discussions touching on thorny issues like Iran’s good trade relationship with Kenya and the fact Kenya may play a role in mending the relationship between Iran and the US so that healthy trade relationship may be achieved if your husband gets the presidency. Remember the length and the depth of our talk on other issues of importance in this hotly contested election where as you have stated - is an opportunity for the black people to start being proud of America and to be patriotic.

API was disappointed that one of your husband’s spokespersons rushed to the press to deny that you had called API. It is best that they check with you first before jumping to conclusions as if they control your private calls everyday.

API is interested in handling this matter in a good and reasonable way so that we may not be forced to release the tapes in its entirety. We do not want to be party to causing unnecessary chaos before the elections. If you just come forward and confirm that there was a call you placed to API, that will enable API to be out of it and nobody will continue to demand that we air unedited tape, but that we can release the one with information that is already known to the public.

We will appreciate solving this matter this way in order to avoid unnecessary law suits that may come about.

It is my apology to you that we did not let you know that the conversation was being taped, and yet I expect you to know that being a public figure, such may happen.

We have decided to write to you after our discussion today with a US CIA official in Oslo.

Chief Editor Korir sees the Obama campaign's denial and raises one audio tape.

Michelle Obama Calls African News Organization Over Obama Birth Certificate Reporting

Michelle Obama:
Bloggers Who Question Obama Citizenship "Racists"

Invitation to Inauguration in Exchange for "Good Story"

BREAKING

“It is strange that API [African Press International] has chosen to support the racists against my husband."
--Michelle Obama, telephone conversation with African Press International

DBKP is "Racist" for Asking Questions?
API Editor Calls Phone Call "Shocking"

Though there has been no Mainstream Media report or investigation into Phillip Berg's federal lawsuit, which the Obama campaign has chosen

A mid-size website, African Press International, is reporting that it received a phone call from Michelle Obama yesterday which contained some startling information.

  • Bloggers who question Barack Obama's citizenship or ask questions about it are "racists", according to API.
  • API was offered an invite to an Obama inauguration ceremony "if they write a good story"
  • Obama was adopted by his Indonesian step-father, according to API.

African Press International which describes itself as "A “Daily Online News Channel” established on 30th.September 2006 by Rainbow Foundation (NGO) Reg.no. 976593510 and The Chief Editor who is a Member of Investigative Reporters and Editors".

The API story is titled, "Shocking development: Mrs Obama decides enough is enough: “My husband was born in Hawaii and adopted by his step father, does that make him unpatriotic; she asks”, on a direct telephone to API."

Accusing API of colluding with American internet bloggers in an effort to bring down her husband, Mrs Obama said she decided to call API because of what she termed, API’s help to spread rumours created by American bloggers and other racist media outlets "in their efforts to damage a black man’s name, saying she hopes African Media was mature enough to be in the front to give unwavering support to her husband, a man Africans should identify themselves with."

The API editor was taken aback, it would seem, when Michelle Obama's was
"angered" by API's reporting and told the editor “African press International is supposed to support Africans and African-American view”.

When API told her that our online news media was only relaying what the American Bloggers and other media outlets had discovered through their investigations, Mrs Obama was angered and she came out loud with the following: “African press International is supposed to support Africans and African-American view,” and she went to state that, “it is strange that API has chosen to support the racists against my husband. There is no shame in being adopted by a step father. All dirt has been thrown onto my husband’s face and yet he loves this country. My husband and I know that there is no law that will stop him from becoming the president, just because some American white racists are bringing up the issue of my husband’s adoption by His step father. The important thing here is where my husband’s heart is at the moment. I can tell the American people that My husband loves this country and
"his adoption never changed his love for this country. He was born in Hawaii, yes, and that gives him all the right to be an American citizen even though he was adopted by a foreigner; says Michelle Obama on telefon to API.”

According to the story, it wasn't all anger and admonitions in the phone call.

Michelle Obama offered a "sweetener" if the African news site would get in line behind Barack Obama--an invitation to a possible Obama inauguration ceremony!

Mrs Obama asked API to write a good story about her husband and that will earn API an invitation to the innoguration ceremony when, as she put it , her husband will be installed as the next President of the United States of America next year.

A check of African Press International's archives show articles which are decidedly anti-Obama, but the site reports from across a wide swath of African countries using Africans as citizen-journalists.

If the API site is largely visited by Africans seeking news, the website most likely will see an influx of visits from American Obama supporters in the next few weeks in their comments section.

Any website publishing stories not friendly to the Obama campaign can attest to that phenomena.

It would seem that even if the Obama campaign has so far refused--and the media has so far largely refused to report--the Berg v. Obama lawsuit which asks Barack Obama for proof of citizenship, they are aware very aware of it.

Aware enough to cause Michelle Obama herself to make a phone call.

Which will now likely lead to a denial from the Obama campaign.
