A single mother for long, she's thrilled with her surprise wedding

Actress Neena Gupta is happy to have found marital bliss after years of solitude, but maintains that her 19-year-old daughter Masaba, with former West Indies cricketer Vivian Richards, is her "top priority".

Apparently Masaba has made it clear that she won't accompany her mother and her new husband Vivek Mehra, a partner at Price Waterhouse Coopers, to his family home in New Delhi.

Neena, who doesn't have much of a career in Mumbai now, would happily settle down in Delhi, but has told her husband that Masaba is her priority.
"Much as I'm thrilled with the new developments in my life, Masaba is my top concern. She always will be. I can't leave her alone in Mumbai where she is studying fashion designing. So I guess I'll be shuttling between Delhi and Mumbai," Neena told IANS.

The actress, who tied the knot in the US on July 15, reveals that getting married wasn't that easy.

"Vivek and I were seeing each other for six years. But his divorce had to come through before we could make it legal. The marriage took me completely by surprise. We had gone to the US to attend his nephew's engagement, when he sprang a surprise wedding on me. There was a pundit, a fire and the works..."

Neena, a single mother for long, admits that she has now discovered the joys of a large joint family.
"Vivek's family in Delhi brims over with warmth. They've welcomed me with open arms, made me feel a part of the family in no time. I just love the hustle-bustle of the ladies in the house and would love to be part of it."

However, Masaba is not quite ready to make a move into Neena's marital bliss and she still often reaches out to her father Vivian Richards, though Neena says her daughter and Vivek are "close".

"Vivek and Masaba are friends, yes. Both me and Masaba have known Vivek for six years. So there's a great deal of comfort. But Masaba is in touch with Viv. He is her father. But Vivek is very close to Masaba. Their relationship cannot be defined at the moment, though she's very fond of him."

While Masaba comes to terms with the new developments in her mother's life, Neena has no choice but to wait it out and continue to make Mumbai her home base. But she admits she doesn't have much work in Mumbai.

"The TV channels don't want what I want to do. And I don't want to do what they want me to. So there's a kind of a dead-end in my career on television. People still remember me and Kanwaljeet in my serial 'Saans'. But where is the opportunity now to make something like that?"

But that doesn't stop Neena from acting and she has two films up for release.

"I play Mithun Chakbraborty's wife in 'Veer' and a pivotal role in Aijaz Khan's 'The White Elephant'. I'm also finally directing. The script should be ready in a couple of weeks. I'll play the lead."

Don’t get married, Devgn advises Saif and Kareena

While one thought that Ajay Devgn coming solo on Karan Johar's Koffee With Karan might turn out to be damp squib, Devgn has conversely turned out to be an absolute shocker.

In a statement, which threw Karan Johar almost off his chair, Devgn looked straight into Karan's eye and said that Bebo and Saif should not tie the knot.
The story goes that Karan was in his favourite 'Rapid Fire Round', when Devgn blurted out that Saif and Kareena should not marry. What exactly happened? "Well, Karan asked Ajay to render some piece of marital advice to Saif and Kareena.
Without batting an eyelid, Ajay said, 'Don't get married'. If it wasn't a 'Rapid Fire Round' Karan would have definitely probed why Devgn holds this opinion about Saif's and Kareena's future," says our source.
Is that statement going to remain in the episode? Said the source, "Why not? That's quite a statement, isn't it?"

But knowing Karan to be a curious cat, we wouldn't be surprised if he asked Ajay why he said that about Saif and Kareena.
What is surprising is that the advice of not to marry has come from a man who himself is rather happily married to KJo's good friend.
According to a friend of Devgn, the statement was made in good fun. "Woh usne masti mein bola hoga," he said.
Devgn, Kareena and Saif remained unavailable for comment. Ditto for Fazila Allana, managing director of SOL, which produces the show.

I bought this item about a year ago as I had a holiday coming up and I was paranoid about my cellulite. I hardly drink water ( I know I know I need to) and the scrubbing in the shower hadn't really done much.

I tried a thick moisturiser like cocoa butter but nothing helped.

I was in boots one day and spotted this on the shelf. For £11.22 I thought why not its a night time gel so all I have to do is put it on and go to sleep...EASY!

At first I didn't notice any change like most people you expect to see results straight away but believe it or not after 2 weeks I measured my thighs and I had lost half an inch on both. They look much firmer and my cellulite had reduced dramatically. I couldn't believe it!!

It is a gel and it doesn't leave you sticky. The smell reminds me of cucumber which I love as it smells gorge and refreshing.

If you do have cellulite or want to tone up without joining a gym in time for summer I definitely recommend this product you will not be disappointed!!

Even the seaway was closed

On Saturday, my extended family descended on a north country town to eat lunch at café and then to visit an old mansion that’s been turned into an art museum. The art show that had just opened included a painting that my father had entered: fittingly, a scene of our dock in winter. The accommodating staff had given us permission to use the room off their kitchen so that we could have birthday cake. So we wandered around the building, looking at paintings and sculptures, and then gathered to sing happy birthday to my father.

Tie-dye Brother-in-law had volunteered to buy the desserts, and he brought more than just birthday cake. So we were all happily full, ready for a walk in the cold air, by the time we left the art museum to walk on the pier.

“There’s got to be 60 degree temperature difference since the last time we were here,” said Urban Sophisticate Sister, as we tramped through the snow to get to the pier. The last time we’d all gathered on the pier was on a sweltering hot day last July. In fact, it had been so hot that most of us had stripped down and jumped into the cold water. Urban Sophisticate coaxed the kids into recreating the photo she’d taken of them diving off the pier: Boy in Black even did a handstand on the ice, pretending he was in mid-dive.

An unexpected sight were the row of channel markers: huge buoys, red and green, that we normally see when we’re out sailing, marking the seaway so that vessels can navigate the channel. At the end of December, which is when the seaway closes, a tugboat pulls them out of the water and lines them up on the pier, where they stay until March. I’d never seen them out of the water before; it was fun to be able to walk right up and inspect them up close.
