Police say Calif metal thief suspect electrocuted!
COLTON, Calif. (AP) --Police say a suspected Southern California metal thief has been electrocuted while tampering with a large transformer box.
The man's body was found next to the transformer behind a Colton business at 4:40 a.m. Thursday. The man didn't carry an identification and his name isn't known.
Sgt. Alan Koahou tells the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin that officers were on patrol when they noticed traffic signals and business lights were out. An anonymous caller then notified police there was a body behind a nearby business.
The sergeant says it appears the man was a copper thief trying to steal components from the transformer box.
