Christian Conservative Group Demands Vitter’s Resignation, Says GOP ‘Committing Outright Hypocrisy’ By Letting Him Stay

The president of the Christian conservative Family Policy Network — a group best known for confronting attendees at gay pride events about Jesus’ power to cure homosexuality — sent a letter to Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) today calling on him to follow the lead of Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) and resign. Vitter admitted to frequenting prostitutes in 2007, but did not step down and, unlike Weiner, never faced much pressure from his own party to do so. Family Policy Network President Joe Glover added in his letter that Republicans “are committing outright hypocrisy” as long Vitter remains in office, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports:

“There are a lot of people that I think are committing outright hypocrisy and are forced to do so as long as he (Vitter) remains in office,” said Joe Glover, the president of the Family Policy Network, based in Forest, Va. “I don’t think the senator should put those folks in the untenable position of having to pragmatically defend his presence in the Senate.”

Glover noted, for example, that House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, and Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, had called on Weiner to resign, but had also contributed to Vitter’s 2010 re-election campaign.

An article that will be posted on the group’s website tomorrow asks, “So what did Republican leaders do about Senator Vitter? They let him off the hook.” The article continues, “[T]he public’s perception of Vitter as a sleazy, hypocritical Christian only served to tarnish the name of Christ among unbelievers.”

Indeed, while Weiner received universal condemnation from Democrats and Republicans alike, Vitter actually received a coordinated campaign of support from Louisiana Republicans andcampaign donations from national Republican leaders — the same leaders who demanded Weiner’s resignation. Even former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele saw “inconsistency” in the way his party reacted to the two scandals.

To their credit, some conservatives have spoken out against Vitter. Fox News host Bill O’Reilly said, “I don’t think Vitter should be there. Absolutely not.” Fox’s Greta Van Susteren and right-wing media provocateur Andrew Breitbart — who played a key role in bringing down Weiner — have also criticized the senator.

Rachel Maddow points out the key hypocrisies and double standards of the Weiner resignation

By David Ferguson

On last night’s “Rachel Maddow Show”, Rachel laid out some of the more glaring hypocrisies and double standards in play with regards to the Democratic Party forcing Congressman Anthony Weiner to resign his seat amid the tawdry scandal that has played out over the last two weeks. She references the David Vitter prostitution scandal, Larry Craig and his “wide stance”, Speaker of the House John Boehner’s decision to physically hand out tobacco industry checks to lawmakers on the House floor during a tobacco subsidy vote, and on and on.

Underlining the fact that the entire episode has been more about making a living for shock jocks and pranksters like Andrew Breitbart than anything to do with ethics or moral values, Maddow congratulates the Democrats on “feeding the beast”. By throwing Weiner under the bus, they have shown the world that these kinds of cynical, partisan attacks work exactly as they’re intended to, thereby making the entire caucus vulnerable, possibly for a generation to come.

Motor City Liberal Comments: I didn't think Anthony Weiner should resigned, not defending covering up sending freaky photos and comments to random consenting chicks but if calling and screwing hookers doesn't get you fired why should sending freaky photos and texts?

Larry Flynt: I Want Weiner

TMZ reports:
Flynt fired off a letter to Weiner moments after the politician resigned from Congress earlier today saying, "After having learned of your sudden and compelled resignation from your Congressional post, I would like to make you an offer of employment at Flynt Management Group, LLC in our internet group." Flynt insists, "This offer is not made in jest" and says he is "willing to pay twenty percent more than your former Congressional salary, ensuring that your medical benefits would be equal to what you were previously receiving."

VIDEO: Weiner Resigns

And even on the worst day of his life, he had to endure more heckling from that douchebag from the Howard Stern show.

Rep. Anthony Weiner To Resign

According to the New York Times, Rep. Anthony Weiner is going to resign today.
The top Democratic official said Mr. Weiner called Representative Nancy Pelosi of California and Representative Steve Israel of New York last night while they were at the White House picnic to inform them he had decided to resign on Thursday. Mr. Weiner plans to resign in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, at 2 p.m. , at the spot where he announced his first campaign for City Council in 1992, according to two people told of his plans. The news comes as Democratic leaders prepared to hold a meeting on Thursday to discuss whether to strip the 46-year-old congressman of his committee assignments, a blow that would severely damage his effectiveness.
A damn fucking shame.

Maddow to Letterman: ‘Weinergate’ is ‘more gossip than news

By David Ferguson

Rachel Maddow brought some much-needed perspective to the salacious mess that the ‘Weinergate’ story has become on last night’s “Late Show with David Letterman’. She discusses the distinction between Weiner and politicians like James Ensign and David Vitter, who preached “Family Values” while carrying on extramarital affairs of their own. Letterman admits that he “may not be the best person” to discuss matters of sexual morality and marital fidelity, but says that in his opinion Weiner’s actions call into question the Congressman’s judgment.

Weiner is a Democrat, and has held the office since 1999.

Weiner was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in the 1998 mid-term elections, filling the seat previously occupied by Democrat Charles Schumer who successfully ran for the U.S. Senate that year. Breitbart leaks photo of Weiner’s naked penis

By Megan Carpentier/David Edwards.

Although conservative publisher Andrew Breitbart initially promised to keep the most explicit picture of Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) to himself -- barring certain actions by Weiner -- an alleged picture of Weiner's naked, erect penis nonetheless leaked out this morning.

During an appearance on Sirius XM Radio's notoriously raunchy program The Opie and Anthony Show Wednesday, Breitbart reportedly showed the radio shock jocks the image that was saved on his iPhone. Though they now claim that they retrieved a still of the phone from a videotape of the show and that Breitbart didn't allow them to photograph it, the original image, now removed from Yfrog, showed a thumb in the corner of the lens, as though it was taken from a cell phone camera. Yfrog was the image-sharing service to which Weiner sent the "joke" photo of him in his boxers that started the entire scandal.

The show Tweeted the photo to its official account and brought it to the attention of the gossip sites Gawker and WWTDD. The now-removed image [NSFW] is still available at Gawker.

At a press conference called by Weiner Monday, Breitbart admitted that he had been given a more explicit photo of Weiner, but said he was trying to do the "right thing" by not releasing it.

The conservative provocateur told NBC's Matt Lauer Tuesday that he would release the photo "if Anthony Weiner decides to make it a jihad against me."

"I don't think I want to put his family through that type of thing," Breitbart said. "I could put that out there and his career would have been over today."

For his part, Weiner has thus far refused to resign, but has not commented on the release of the latest photo.

UPDATE: Breitbart told Fox News that he is "mortified" that the picture is now available. He says that "Opie" snapped the picture without permission and called it "a complete violation of trust."

While Demanding Weiner’s Resignation, RNC Chairman Refuses To Discuss Vitter Prostitution Scandal

National Democrats have been quick to distance themselves from disgraced Rep. Anthony Wiener (D-NY) in the wake of his Twitter sex scandal, with the party’s top leaders in both chambers publicly chastising him. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and DCCC Chairman Steve Israel (D-NY) called for an ethics investigation, former Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine called on Weiner to resign, while Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) coldly said he would urge Weiner to “call somebody else” if the Congressman asked for advice. Other Democrats have returned campaign contributions from Weiner.

Meanwhile, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus has vocally called for Weiner’s resignation. But this has led many to questions if Priebus is exploiting the scandal for political gain by holding Weiner to a standard the GOP didn’t apply to their own members embroiled in scandal, especially Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) who admitted in 2007 to patronizing a prostitution ring. Vitter remains in the Senate to this day and easily won reelection in 2010. Fox News host Greta Van Susteren asked Priebus about this double standard last night, but Priebus refused to address it and Van Susteren, not surprisingly, allowed him to evade the question:

VAN SUSTEREN: Is there a difference with Senator David Vitter, I mean, with the whole — with his whole little prostitution — he’s on a prostitution client list. Is that different?

PRIEBUS: Well, I don’t know if it’s different.

VAN SUSTEREN: Well, nobody called –

PRIEBUS: Frankly, I’m not relitigating the David Vitter situation.

But even Priebus’s predecessor, former RNC Chairman Michael Steele, sees some “inconsistency” in Priebus’ acrimony, as he told MSNBC’s Rachael Maddow last night:

STEELE: It doesn’t matter if your name is Vitter or Weiner…[t]he consequences of breaking that trust should be equally applied. I heard what the chairman said today and thought it was a little bit not right. You can’t look at one case and say that this behavior warrants dismissal or you should quit, or look at another one that may be a degree or two more egregious and not see that same that requirement of removing yourself from office.

Watch a compilation of Priebus and Steele:

Priebus has explicitly insisted that DNC Chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL)should call on Weiner to resign. But how did Priebus’s predecessors handle the Vitter scandal? Neither Duncan Hunter nor former Sen. Mel Martinez — who co-headed the RNC in 2007 — called on Vitter to resign. In fact, according to a Nexis search, it appears neither even addressed the scandal publicly.

Unlike Pelosi, Senate Minority leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) did not call for a ethics investigation into Vitter, and remained largely silent on the scandal.

Vitter did, however, receive public support from fellow Louisiana Republicans. Realizing that the state’s Democratic governor would likely appoint a Democrat if Vitter resigned, the state GOP launched “a concerted push…to offer some support” for the embattled senator, the The New Oreleans Times Picyune reported at the time. Then-Rep. Bobby Jindal (R-LA), who was in the midst of a successful bid for governor, issued a statement saying, “While we are disappointed by Senator Vitter’s actions…[t]his is a matter for the Senator to address, and it is our hope that this is not used by others for their own political gain.” Louisiana GOP Reps. Richard Baker and Charles Boustany issued their own “supportive statements,” with Baker saying Vitter’s illegal use of prostitution “does not define the whole of the man and it is not irredeemable.” He even urged to the news media to exercise “some restraint” when writing about the scandal.

Priebus is right to call for a high ethical standard for political leaders, but his indignation would ring less hollow if he applied the same standard to those in his own party as well.

Weinergate Lewd Photos

Source:
www.GutterUncensored.com

I so not wanted to do the Weinergate scandal but here we are tonight... Dammit. Anyhow, Rep. Anthony Weiner of New York was trying to send lewd photos of a bulge in his underwear over Twitter to a college student in Seattle. But instead of sending the crotch shot photo to the one intended girl in Seattle via private messaging on Twitter, he send it publicly to 45,000 of his followers. He quickly deleted the tweet with the bugle a few moments later and about 3 minutes later said he was just hacked. The incident was quickly dubbed Weinergate a play on his name and the Watergate scandal from some 35 years ago and every Washington D.C. political scandal since then. So the new scandal, now dubbed Weinergate, started when a photograph of a man's penis erected underneath gray boxer-briefs was posted on Weiner's Twitter page.

At first Rep. Weiner denied he sent the lewd photo but after several more photos were released today via BigGovernment with one of the 6 women he was sexting over the years telling her story. Apparently some of these woman were surprised when a U.S. Congressmen started to send them lewd photos of his erection. The interesting thing about this new scandal is that Anthony Weiner was in the lead to be the next mayor of New York City in 2013. And despite popular belief today, I am willing to bet he is even in a better position to be the next mayor of NYC. Anyway, some are calling for his resignation but so far I have not seen any laws broken so while I wouldn't vote for him... I would not be calling for him to resign.

Okay, here are four of the five photos we know of so far... the fifth photo is said to be extremely graphic and is believe to be a photo of the congressman's weiner. LOL... I just had to make a weiner joke! For whatever reason this scandal is now huge in American even though there is no naked chick. I hate big sex scandals without a naked chick or two. I guess this one is for the ladies. And just wait a few days because I think a dick pic of a sitting U.S. Congressman will get leak to the net. Click on pictures to enlarge.

Rep. Anthony Weiner exploring legal action over ‘Weinergate’ fiasco

Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner is consulting with his lawyers after it was reported that the New York congressman sent a racy photo to a female college student from Seattle via Twitter.

"We’ve retained counsel to explore the proper next steps and to advise us on what civil or criminal actions should be taken," Weiner spokesman Dave Arnold told The Daily Caller in an email. "This was a prank. We are loath to treat it as more, but we are relying on professional advice."

Weiner has claimed that his Facebook account was hacked and that, while the photo did appear on his Twitter feed, he did not send it. The photo shows a man's erect penis outlined in a pair of tight boxer briefs. The photo was first published by Andrew Breitbart'sBigGovernment.

The photo was quickly deleted along with all the other photos on the congressman's yFrog account.

Unlike a shirtless photo of former Rep. Chris Lee (R-NY), which resulted in his resignation, skeptics have doubted the authenticity of the so-called "Weinergate" image.

An analysis of a screenshot of the congressman's yFrog account, which was published by BigGovernment, shows the image was manipulated, according to the progressive blog DailyKos. The screenshot was allegedly altered to make it appear that the racy photo was associated with Rep. Weiner's account. Another DailyKos blogger has suggested that nearly the entire incident was fabricated by a conservative Twitter user.

Reuters' Anthony De Rosa noted that the phone data on Weiners' previous yFrog images does not match the data of the racy photo. "Not conclusive evidence, but puts relative suspicious about the validity of tying the image directly to Anthony Weiner’s phone," he said.

Mediaite's "resident expert" Philip Bump added that the current evidence did suggest that the congressman was the victim of a hack, but there was little to no evidence to suggest that contributors to Breitbart's websites fabricated the lewd image.

Motor City Liberal Comment: This is what these right wing bastards do they cooked up something up then they ruined someone career and when they get busted they will say it was only a prank and beg not to be sued.
