The Tumbled Sea - Melody Summer (2009)

Besuchern dieses Blogs sollte The Tumbled Sea nicht ganz unbekannt sein, schließlich wurde bereits das erste wunderbare Album hier rezensiert.

Auch das zweite Album des Ein-Mann-Projekts aus Boston, Massachusetts, vereint wieder die schönsten Pianomelodien und lädt zum (tag)träumen ein. Was anderes als sich zurücklehnen, die Augen schließen und diesen wundervollen Klängen lauschen kann man dazu gar nicht tun.

Als Einflüsse „nice sounds“ zu nennen und es mit „something you like to listen to hopefully“ zu beschreiben, ist wohl reinste Untertreibung für diese wirklich wunderschöne sanft-verträumte Musik.

Glücklicherweise wird uns auch „Melody Summer“ kostenlos zur Verfügung gestellt, zumindest in 128 kBit Qualität. Wer höhere Qualität wünscht oder das Album in physischer Form (mit handgestempeltem Artwork in schönem Slipcase) besitzen möchte, hat hier 5 Dollar bestens investiert.

The second album of the one-man-project from Boston, Massachusetts, combines again the most beautiful piano melodies and invites you to (day)dream. Obviously you can´t do anything else than sit down, close your eyes and listen to these amazing sounds.

To mention „nice sounds“ as influences and describe it with „something you like to listen to hopefully“ seems to be truely understated for this really wonderful gentle-dreamy music.

Tagträumen für Fortgeschrittene

Während meiner tagtäglichen Zugfahrten tendiere ich dazu, mir Ambient anzuhören, denn dadurch kann ich Schaffner und nervende Mit-Passagiere mit den Klängen aus meinen Kopfhörern ausblenden und genieße dabei trotzdem die Stille und Sanftheit der bis fast ans Maximum aufgedrehten Musik. Diese vermischt sich dann mit dem leisen Rattern der Bahn und meinen immer weiter abschweifenden Gedanken zu einem einzigen Gefühl der Hoffnung und Sehnsucht. Der einsame Blick in die Ferne lässt mich dann glauben, die Welt ziehe im Schneckentempo an mir vorbei. Es scheint, als ob the tumbled sea, ein Ein-Mann-Projekt aus Boston genau diesen Moment vertont - das perfekt passende Cover, vertäumt-schöne Pianokompositionen, die schwermütige Atmosphäre, welche in ihrer geheimnisvollen Dichte aber immer wieder von den hellen Strahlen der Sonne durchdringt wird. Verloren im Gedanken muss ich ungläubig den Kopfhörer abnehmen und frage mich, ob das Geräusch, das ich wahrnehme vom MP3-Player oder aus meiner Umgebung stammt.

Daydreaming for the advanced

I tend to listen to ambient while I'm on my day-to-day train rides because the train conductors and the other, annoying passengers fade out with the sounds from my headphones, while I'm still enjoying the silence and lenity of the music, turned nearly to it's maximum volume. Then it mixes the quiet rumble of the train and my thoughts which wander off to distant places to a single emotion of hope and yearning. Through the lonesome glance into the distance I'm about to believe that the world passes by in slow-motion. It seems that the tumbled sea, a one-man-project from Boston makes the music for this very moment - with the perfectly fitting cover, dreamy and beautiful piano compositions and a lugubrious atmosphere which is, with it's mysterious density, pervaded by the bright rays of the sun every now and then. Deeply lost in my thoughts I have to take the headphones off again and again while I ask myself, if the sound I'm hearing comes from my MP3 player or my surroundings.
