****Lost Luggage Used As Toilet, Returned.
(Delta Apologizes, Vows Investigation.)
MINNEAPOLIS -- A British traveler in the country on vacation went home wishing his lost luggage had stayed lost.
Simon Heighes said Delta lost his luggage for four days. When he got his suitcase back, his cologne was gone and a new fragrance took its place.
"The overwhelming stench of urine," said Heighes. "It's just absolutely disgusting."
As soon as he opened his luggage, he captured video of his investigation and uploaded it to YouTube.
Comments on his video and across the blogosphere attempted to figure out who might have urinated on his belongings. Many people assumed it was a Delta employee, others postulated that it was a bomb sniffing dog.
Whoever it was, Heighes said it was horrible.
"The smell coming off these is like somebody with a serious renal issue has peed on this," said Heighes.
Delta responded immediately, telling CNN that "if anything happened, it is unacceptable and will be closely reviewed."
"Obviously they're appalled and they've apologized profusely," said Heighes.
The carrier gave Heighes a $250 reimbursement and he flew back to London in first class.
