Culture: Color Me Racist

Color Me Racist

Its now official. I'm a racist. No less than a former president of the United States has declared that if I oppose the takeover of 17% of our economy under the guise of health care reform, I hate black people.

According to President Carter, U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson's objection to a 'misstatement' in President Obama's speech to Congress last week was an act "based on racism" and rooted in fears of a black president. And a Rasmussen survey shows that fully 12% of Americans agree with him.

The old media has chimed in, with the left's favorite columnist, Maureen Dowd, going a step further. Rep. Joe Wilson said, "You lie' to Obama. But Maureen Dowd heard, "You lie, boy." Boy being one of the many politically incorrect words the left has decided is an indicator of racism. Point made. Case closed.
Another columnist, E. Danielle Egan, has joined the growing chorus. In the Philadelphia Enquirer, Egan blithely dismissed the app. 2 million protestors who turned out last weekend to protest Obama's policies, writing them off as illegitimate. "So I have decided it's time that what I've been watching be called what I believe it is: racism." She continues, "The level of rage being expressed is different and out of sync with what we know from the past." I guess she was visiting Atlantis during the Bush years, or something.

And just in case anyone has missed the point, ABC has devoted a full story to the racist motives of the Obama protestors.
So there. The media and political elite have spoken. Any opposition to Obama means the protestor is a bad person. A person unable to see beyond the color of his skin. A racist. (Isn't that called profiling?)

Conveniently for these elites, they have also decided that responding to ignorant racists is quite beneath them. Being a racist is bad, therefore there is absolutely no need to respond to the underlying complaint. Whew.
This is the ultimate free pass. It almost makes me wish I had been born black. Then I could make any claims I want, without any facts to back them up, and still maintain the moral high ground. I could blame every bad decision I ever made on racism and, best of all, put my opponents in the impossible situation of trying to prove a negative.

I would gain membership in the ever growing class of 'victims', which automatically grants me immunity from the normal rules of civilized behavior.
The fact that Joe Wilson was quite correct in branding Obama a liar is not the point. By diverting the issue to racial animus, Obama's 'misstatement' is conveniently overlooked. This is called a win-win situation.
Wilson's audacity in branding Obama a liar has caused a national firestorm. The left is in high dudgeon, quickly spinning the truth of Wilson's (admittedly disrespectful) assertion into a condemnation of his integrity, topping it off with the unprecedented act of issuing a formal rebuke from the House. Bad boy! (Can I say that?)
Not mentioned in this national brou haha is Sen Reid's Dec 15, 2004 statement, where he called called President Bush a liar. "President Bush is a liar. He betrayed Nevada and he betrayed the country."

I guess its OK to call white guys liars. Even when they can't come up with any specific lie. Its just something everyone knows. Bush lied. Strangely enough, I've never been taken up on my challenge to pay $100.00 to anyone who can cite a specific lie that Bush told. I digress.
Also not included in the conversation the left is successfully controlling, is President Obama's statement last week branding Kanye West a jackass. But, hey, West is black...this is starting to get confusing.
I'm in awe of the left. Though they have admitted not knowing the details of the 1,000 plus pages of the Obama health care 'reform', they have managed to divine what is in my heart. And the hearts of millions of others. And it's called racism.
Despite having elected a black president, the left would have us believe that the millions of whites who voted for Obama still hate black people. They would have us believe that, even though we can't see it, racism is still a dominant force in America. Its just evolved into the silent 'institutional' kind of racism that no one can quantify. But it's still there. I guess we just have to take their word for it. If we dare question their premise, we're racists. Game, set and match.

Idiots of the Week

[Every week, RightBias publishes Culture Watch, which includes an Idiot of the Week award. However, there's been so many...

TOP IDIOTS OF THE WEEK: Sept. 27, 2008

1. First place winner, hands down, is PETA, People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals. After hearing of a Swiss restaurant that started using human breast milk in their soups and sauces, PETA sent a letter to Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc., urging them to start using breast milk in their ice cream products. Yum.

2. Unfortunately, this idiot terrorist is unable to savor his award. As he was mindlessly lobbing bombs and chanting Allah Akbar, he accidentally blew himself up. (Warning: graphic video) I wonder if he finally got those 72 virgins he was promised.

4. Also, in the eco-idiots category: Bette Midler, who cancelled her latest tour in order to save the planet. The aging 62 year-old diva felt the fleet of 14 trucks she used to ship her show from city to city caused too much pollution. I'm sure low ticket sales had nothing to do with her decision.

5. A Michigan Court of Appeals deserves a place on our list for ruling that a man who pleaded no contest to sodomizing a sheep doesn't have to register as a sex offender. Would someone please let PETA know.

6. The winner of last week's top idiot award is back. Democrat VP candidate Joe Biden stated on CBS Evening News, "When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on television and didn't just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened.'" Only problem is, FDR wasn't president during the 1929 crash, Herbert Hoover was. Oh, and there was no television in 1929. Duh.

7.
Former American Idol star Clay Aiken gets our Idiot Parent of the Week award. Clay was pictured in People Magazine holding his infant son as he announced to the world that he is gay. Clay threw in some advice on parenting, stating, "I cannot raise a child to lie or hide things." Another example of idiots transforming bad behaviour into moral-self righteousness. Bravo.

8. Kudos to the idiot who managed to rack up nearly $2 million in traffic fines before being caught by Brazilian police.

9. Last, but not least, is the idiot former judge who was disbarred by the Oklahoma Supreme Court last Tuesday. His crime? He actually got caught, and served prison time, for using a sexual device while presiding over trials. Hey, maybe some lawyers just complained about how hard it was to get a rise out of him. Ya think?

Thought for the week: To err is human, but being an idiot takes something special.

Idiots of the Week: September 25, 2008
Right Bias.com

[Every week, RightBias publishes Culture Watch, which includes an Idiot of the Week award. Last week, however, was so chock full of idiotic delights that we find they deserve more exposure than space allows in Culture Watch. Hence, the first:]

TOP IDIOTS OF THE WEEK AWARDS:

1. The top idiot of the week award goes, hands down, to Dem VP contender Joe Biden, who stated with a straight face that being patriotic means paying higher taxes. No doubt, some will fall for this bunk, which further explains the need for an expanded IDIOT'S list. So many idiots, so little time.

2. Narrowly losing out for first place has to be Washington Redskin's tight end, Chris Cooley, who 'accidentally' posted a photo of his genitals on the Internet. Cooley apologized, saying he was studying, in the nude, and accidentally included his genitalia in a photo of what were supposed to be notes. Right.. He as much as said it ain't no big deal.

3. A would-be robber picked the wrong bar to rob. It turned out Pooh's Corner Bar in Virginia is a cop's bar. This idiot ended up with a shot in the butt. Sometimes, life is fair.

4. Rep. Charlie Rangel, who, after being caught cheating on his taxes, penned an open letter to New Yorkers saying he is the target of a GOP "guerilla war." This, after he managed to keep his leadership post on our nation's tax-writing committee even after evidence of his tax fraud came to light.

5.
A German teenager engraved a swastika into her hip and then blamed it on right-wing militants. She is currently facing trial.

6. Billionaire George Soros has made this week's list. His hedge fund lost at least $120 million bucks for his investors on the funds' Lehman Brothers holdings. Welcome, George. Hope to see you back here real soon.

7. Our 'social justice' award has to go to the group of protesters who gathered outside John McCain's Crystal City condo, demanding McCain give them his condo. Too much koolaid for those kids. What do you want to bet they're all Obama supporters?

8. Last, but not least, we must acknowledge those zany Democrat leaders who, as the world teetered on the brink of financial ruin last week, suggested issuing gas stamps to help Americans cope with high gas prices.

Feel free to forward your own contendor for next week's IDIOT AWARDS.

Leonard Padilla, Kevin Beary, Greta Van Susteren and others
Including Protesters

"What is given, Can be taken away. Everyone lies. Everyone dies."
--Casey Anthony, in a poem, July 7, 2008

Quotes from the media circus that has surrounded the disappearance of three-year-old Caylee Anthony. Caylee's mother, Casey is a "person of interest" in the case. Grandparents, George and Cindy, have had their home staked out by protesters and the drama continues.

Thirty quotes by the persons involved.

"I'm never going to forgive myself."
--Casey Anthony, to detectives about leaving her daughter, Caylee, with baby sitter Zenaida Gonazlez at the Sawgrass Apartments; July 16 2008

I have someone here that I need to have arrested in my home. There's a possible missing child. I have a three-year-old that's been missing for a month.

CINDY ANTHONY: I told you my daughter was missing for a month. I just found her today, but I can't found my granddaughter. She just admitted to me that she's been trying to find her herself.

There's something wrong. I found my daughter's car today, and it smells like there's been a dead body in the damn car.

--Cindy Anthony, mother of Casey and grandmother of Caylee Anthony, in a 911 call on July 15 2008; A Closer Look at the Caylee Anthony Disappearance Timeline

"Right now, looking at you, I know that everything that you’ve told me is a lie, including the fact that your child was last seen a month ago and that you don’t know where she is. I’m very confident that you know where she is."
--Unnamed detective questioning Casey Anthony, Newly Released Tapes Reveal Police Accusing Caylee's Mom of Lying Early in Investigation; audio tape, July 16 2008

"I have no clue where she is. If I had any sense of where she was at all, none of this would have happened."
--Casey Anthony, interview with detectives, July 16 2008

"Because I don't (expletive) know where she's at. You are kidding me?"
--Casey Anthony, to mother, Cindy in a jailhouse call, Complete Text Of Casey Anthony's Jailhouse Phone Call; July 25 2008

"Because nobody is (expletive) listening to anything that I'm saying. The media misconstrued everything that I said. The (expletive) detectives pulled (expletive) (expletive). They got all of their information from me but at the same time they are twisting stuff. They already said they are going to pin this on me if they don't find Caylee. They've already said that. They arrested me because they said..."
--Casey Anthony, to friend, Kristina Chester, in a jailhouse call, July 25, 2008

"Nobody in my own family is on my side."

--Casey Anthony, to friend, Kristina, in a jailhouse call, July 25, 2008

"She has been kidnapped by a person the local authorities said doesn't exist. There are nine people with that name in Orlando, Florida. There are four people with that name in Winter Haven, Florida and there are people with that name in Miami and four people with that name in New York City and three in the Bronx. So come on folks, someone needs to start listening to my daughter and if it is not the local authorities, will the FBI please get involved in this case and come and interview my daughter like she has been requesting?"
--Cindy Anthony, CBS The Early Show, July 26 2008

"So, I mean, that's still my, my best feeling at the moment. Again, if that changes, obviously I'm going to reach out and say something immediately, but I know Mom will understand this better than anyone that there's that type of bond that you have with your kids.

I did one time [speak with daughter, Caylee], yes, and that was actually the day that Mom had called the police[July 15]."
--Casey Anthony, in a jailhouse call to brother, Lee, Lee Anthony's Jailhouse Call With Casey; released July 28 2008

"Um, I most definitely did [speak with the babysitter, Zenaidia Fernandez Gonzalez]. God, a lot of the times, it was through text messages, so the number would show up even on that. She has also called me from a 407 number, from a 321 number -- there's been different numbers, different times. Not necessarily on different days, but it just depended on the number that she had at the time. The last number that she had called me from that wasn't, uh, the private listing, or that didn't show up "private cell" or "private call," was 954."
--Casey Anthony, in a jailhouse call to brother, Lee, Lee Anthony's Jailhouse Call With Casey; released July 28 2008

"The strain of the current situation will wear on those around her and pressure her [Casey Anthony] to explain her behavior. Because she cannot explain her lies, she will blame everyone else. She will want to flee. She may even reach for religion as a means to cope, and depression is likely to follow. Then police will be able to talk with her to find out what she really knows. Detectives will be able to get information from her. The key for officers is to know her patterns and approach her the right way. If they key in on her personality, they will be able to get her to tell what really happened."
--Criminal profiler, Dr. Deborah Schurman-Kauflin, President of the Violent Crimes Institute, LLC, in an interview with the Criminal Report Daily; August 3 2008

"On June 24, Casey was back at her parents' house, and her father wanted to get something out of the trunk of her car that he was going to use to do some work on another car.

According to George, the father of Casey, Casey showed some resistance to having him go into the trunk of her car. He was rather persistent and finally was able to open the trunk of her car.

And lo and behold, what does he find in the trunk of her car? He finds some gas cans, some gas cans that he had previously reported stolen from the shed in the backyard. Now, he had no idea that Casey had taken the gas cans, and he was surprised to find the gas cans in the back of her car."

--Greta Van Susteren, A Closer Look at the Caylee Anthony Disappearance Timeline; August 11 2008

"All right, here's what happened. 3:00 or 4:00 in the afternoon, brings the car home, pizza smell in the back trunk. No evidence of Caylee, no evidence of Casey.

I didn't have any issues, did I? What time did I make the 911 call? Ok? I found a pair of pants in the back seat. And, by the way, the two pair of shoes were left in the back seat.

I took the pants out, threw them in the wash with other wash that I had that day, not knowing that that might become evidence.

And that night when the police arrived at my house, the first thing I said "I took a pair of pants out of the car and I washed them." Do you think that they cared? No, they didn't care."
--Cindy Anthony, Aug. 11 interview

"Shut Up! Leave us alone!"
--George Anthony, to unnamed reporter, as he was visiting the jail where daughter, Casey Anthony was held, Grandfather of Caylee Anthony has words with Reporter; August 14 2008

"I think what she was trying to do was break away from her parents' home. She's not concerned. You've seen her. Her demeanor is that of a parent who knows her child is safe."
--Sacramento bounty hunter, Leonard Padilla, August 25 2008 Caylee Anthony Mom Casey Arrested Again? Source: "Any Moment"

"I think something accidentally happened … Casey freaked out. I don't know how she solved that problem. But then created this story in her head."
--Amy Huizinga, friend of Casey Anthony, in court documents released August 28 2008.

"FBI lab tests "along with additional evidence that has not been made public, leads investigators to the belief there is a strong probability that Caylee [Anthony] is deceased."
--Orange Co (FL) Sheriff's Department statement, September 1 2008

"We clearly have evidence that indicates there was a dead body in the trunk of Casey [Anthony's] car, and that body was Caylee [Anthony]."
--Orange County Sheriff's Sgt. John Allen, September 2 2008

"We need to try to find some closure on this case. Regardless, whether she's alive or passed away, we need to find Caylee."
--Orange County Sheriff, Kevin Beary; September 4 2008

"Are you really smiling? Your granddaughter's dead."
--protester, to Cindy Anthony, outside the Anthony's home, Protester/Victim of Casey Anthony's Dad - Part 2; September 7 2008

"Tell the truth. Tell the truth."
--Unidentified protester outside the Anthony's home, September 8 2008

"Hold the sermon."
--Grace, in response to George and Cindy Anthony's attorney, Mark Nejame's call to end the media circus, How did Mark NeJame do on Nancy Grace's show?; September 10 2008

"Look for her [Casey Anthony] to turn to religion and either attempt to or speak of fleeing. When she gets to that point, she is most likely to talk about what really happened."
--Criminal profiler, Dr. Deborah Schurman-Kauflin, President of the Violent Crimes Institute, LLC, in an interview with the Criminal Report Daily; September 11 2008

"We are holding on to that little bit of hope that Caylee is still alive. But if not, it's important that her little body is found."
--Tim Miller, EquuSearch, Casey Anthony to leave jail again; September 12 2008

"It is evident his [Tim Miller's] motives were to obtain publicity for his organization [EquuSearch] at the expense of exploiting my granddaughters disappearance. Although I feel his organization has a purpose, his misrepresentation has tainted the efforts of so many people with good intentions. I would have expected Tim Miller to speak with me one on one, rather than me hearing him on Nancy Grace."
--Cindy Anthony, in a release sent by family representative Larry Garrison; September 12 2008

"I wouldn't let my dog go missing for 1 month without looking!"
--Reported sign of protester, Liz Pounders, outside George and Cindy Anthony's house, Recordings of Casey Anthony interviews released; September 12 2008

"This is insane. This is [expletive] insane."
--Cindy Anthony in response to protesters in front of her home

"You can't come out of the house. You're a joke."
--Protester David Marzullo, 27, of Bradenton, shouting at Cindy Anthony

"I do see how the family is breaking down because of the protesters, and if they're broken down enough, I feel like they'll give up and tell the truth."
--Protester Jennifer Tuck, outside the Anthony's home, 'Monsters,' Disruptive Protesters Outside Anthony Home Prompt Suit ; September 12 2008

Obama Supporters Protest at PA McCain-Palin Rally

Popular Slogans: "Viagra", "Birth Control", Reproductive Rights"
Steelworkers Protest Palin
Palin's Husband, Todd, is a Steelworker

The road to the John McCain-Sarah Palin rally contained a couple dozen Obama supporters.

McCain-Palin supporters parked in a mall parking lot about a half-mile away and walked up the hill to Consol Energy Field, home of the minor league baseball team, The Wild Things.

On the way, those on their way to the rally trudged past 15-25 protesters: Obama supporters, women's reproductive rights advocates and a few Steelworkers for Obama.

Several of the same organizations protesting supported both Bill Clinton and John Edwards. Both Clinton and Edwards are famous supporters of women's rights.

Running the gamut.

Some of the sign-wavers seemed to be there for the party, including one who apparently confused McCain with 1996 Republican nominee, Bob Dole. Dole was a spokesman for Viagra.

The Steelworkers Union had previously endorsed John Edwards. Like many Edwards' trial lawyer backers and bundlers, they have switched their allegiance to Barack Obama.

Union brotherhood only goes so far: Palin's husband is a member of the United Steelworkers Union. Barack Obama is not a member of any union, although the Rev. Jeramiah Wright, pastor of Obama's Trinity Church, was enrolled at Virginia Union University, in Richmond VA in 1959.

Protect Women's Rights: become an Obama Girl!

A look back at the plucky protesters. One shot that didn't come out: two unnamed young women on their way to the stadium greeting the protesters with the one-fingered salute.
