This is how I feel right now | source
My house lost its electricity earlier this day. We have to wait for 9 hours before it was repaired, thanks to our slow government’s customer services. Anyway, after endless hours of sleeping in the hot dry air, (11 hours to be exact; included the midnight sleep and all those short napping) with nothing else to do, I decided to search deep in my bag for a book which I brought home from college.
The book is American Gods by Neil Gaiman (read more about the book after the jump). It has been a while since I touch a real book. Not magazines and school related books. So, when I read this real book, I had this old feeling creep up in me; the urge to finish the book as soon as possible, the excitement with every turned page and the carefree feeling wandering around the fantasy world created by the author.
Then was I realized that how I much I missed reading. I remembered when I was still in the high school I will read at least two books in a month. One book could be finished in three days. My parent will provide me a special book allowance in addition to other allowances just to satisfy my addiction.
However, the older I became, the less book I read. With the workload keep increasing and my attentions were diverged by other forms of entertainment; namely internet and peer pressure (always blame others not yourself), I became less and less care about book.
People should start reading again. I don’t think internet will ever replaced books. Yes, they are expensive and quite bulky when you could easily downloaded an e-book from the internet and put it in your phone, but the always a feeling reading a conventional book that could not be replaced. I am not sure how to describe it in words, but the feeling is there.
When the last time you read book? What was it about? Do you think traditional book will be lost in time and perhaps one day we could only see it in a museum?
Oh, how I missed reading.

American Gods is such an amazing book! Filled with wild (and sometimes scary imagination). Let me extract some of it here:
Gods die. And when they truly die they are unmourned and unremembered. Ideas are more difficult to kill than people, but they can be killed, in the end.
What are the gods he talking about? Descriptions about one of the gods he found in his dream:
He was standing beside a statue of a woman-like thing: her naked breasts hung, flat and pendulous on her chest, around her waist was a chain of severed hands, both of her own hands held sharp knives, and instead of a head, rising from her neck there were twin serpents, their bodies arched, facing each other, ready to attack.
I still haven’t finished the book yet, but I think I should warn you that this is quite a disturbing book. Interesting but it will paint vivid images in your mind. If I were you, I will not read it while I'm eating.
. . . By turns thoughtful, hilarious, disturbing, uplifting, horrifying and enjoyable — and sometimes all at once - St. Louis Post-Dispatch
