5 Things not to be done during Eid ul-Fitr in The City

1. Playing firecrackers

Kids, if your parents are so supportive enough to buy for you mercun (firecrackers), always remember, be careful while playing with it. You do not want to be missing a finger or two when the school term start. Parents do watch your kids closely when they are playing with it. Make sure you put the candle/lighter/source of fire away from the kids. Do not be so ignorant like this guy.

2. Going to shopping malls
If you are planning to savor your Hari Raya (Eid ul-Fitr) mood in the shopping mall by watching movies in the cinema or doing some shopping, just scratch your plans. Trust me, you do not want to be stuck in the sea of foreigners hanging out there. The smell alone is deathly.

3. Laying on the street
There is an urban legend that said you can lie on the road or highway during Raya since most of the city folks already went back to their hometown, this is not the case at all. Unless you want to be the first laying death body during Hari Raya on the newspaper tomorrow, please avoid testing this theory.

4. Kidnapping others

For God sake, please wait till after Raya to kidnap someone. Yes, I am talking to Sosilawati Lawiya, the RM100 Million worth kidnapped case (along with her lawyer, a bank officer and her driver). Sad.

5. Burning al-Quran

The proposed International Burn A Koran day by Pastor Terry Jones to mark the upcoming anniversary of 9/11. My question is what actually he wants to achieve by doing this kind of act? The message of peace should be spread among others and not being fuel further.

(updated: the pastor is said to cancel the plans to burn the Koran)

I am celebrating my Eid ul-Fitr (in Malaysia it was called, Hari Raya Aidilfitri) in the city this year. Therefore, I would like to wish Muslim all over the world, Happy Eid Mubarak. Have a peaceful and blessed day!

Blogging Nightmare

It feels like forever for me to get settle down. I already forgot how the 'fun' of house moving was. Anyway, I will try to online more this week. Back to blogging. Blogging is fun, especially when we are blogging about things that we love. Personally, I even have a feeling of anticipation for what other bloggers will blog about. Sometimes, you will bump into a surprise while others will come out as your expectation (not that it is a bad thing to happen though). By abiding to the expectation, we could find the safest way to describe our feeling and let it flows smoothly into others’ mind. That being said, blogging too will sometimes lead you into some terrible experiences or what I will call, blogging nightmare.

Thus, I would like to list out some of the costs for terrible experiences to other bloggers. Although it will be based on my own personal experiences, I am sure some of us had been in the same place as I am. This is the top five terrible experiences that will happen to many innocent and ignorant people out there. Please do not feel bad if your blog is in one of the categories listed, we just want to have a pleasant blogging experience here.

1. Music
Everyone loves music. Some prefer a softer balladic music, while others love the hard kicks of metal clashing, drum and guitar. For those who are putting a music player into your page, please make sure it is in the user play mode, which means that it would not play by itself. Just imagine while you are surfing the internet in the early hour, in your own room, enjoying the night (or morning), sound of its creatures and the tranquility that come along with it and then suddenly a loud banging sound come out from your computer. To make the problem worst, you are wearing a headphone at that time and your last heart attack was on the week before. Please turn your music to user control function, and if you don’t want to, just put a soothing sound or music. No one will doze off while reading your site, trust me (the music is the last factor that will cause the readers to doze off)

2. Font Size and Color

In case that you don’t know, human vision is limited (and yes, women have more parallel vision compared to men). How hard we are trying to concentrate to countless lines of words with an extremely contrast font’s color against its background, the eyes sometimes could not take it anymore. Please use a normal font size and not every word should be colorfully colored, please, we could read by ourselves, do not try to take away that ability from us.

3. Spamming

Chat box and comment box spamming are not that bad, but you do get annoyed to see the same person post several times, especially when the comments are about advertisement of their sites or goods.

4. Advertisement
I remember that I had joined a forum on this topic matter. Some said that the advertisement will divert your attention from the text, while others said that it was very annoying especially when you put an animated advertisement. In my own opinion, I think that there is nothing wrong with putting ads in your site. The reader would not certainly be going to read your post for a full 5 minutes (or at most, 10 minutes) straight. They want a few breaks in between those long texts. Not only you need to rest for 15 minutes for every hour of TV viewing, you need to rest your eyes too after a long read. The most annoying part of this is the pop up advertisement. You feel cheated as you are forced to click on their ads (and not getting pay for it) and some of them even direct the page to other site as soon as you click on it. Not a great way to great your reader, doesn’t it?

5. Unconstructive Comment
Sending hurtful comment as an anonymous is not okay. If you are going to say out loud your feeling, please be braved to face the consequences after that. A matured thinking should always be followed by a matured way of expressing it too. It would be wonderful to find some constructive comments about the related post from time to time.

I have a lot more to list out, but it will makes my post too long (one of the few nightmares for some). So, please tell me about your own bad experiences while blogging. I am sure we will have a good laugh off it and take extra caution next time. Have a nice blogging day!

Doing A Favor

Finally. Back to my college and will soon start all over again as a student in my daily life. The months of holiday have actually done me good to face yet another hectic, hormone rising, non syllable words dashing, throat torturing (from the lecturers, of course) and yet another interesting life. After all, student's life is when we spent a big chuck of our dreams and soul. Not to mention the couples of stupid things that we done which we later applaud it or regret. Some of it we done in the name of helping ourselves and other, just to help our friends. I will rather talk about the latter as it would not sound like am all about myself again and again. But don't worry, I will put my personal touch in this post too as I know my life experiences will change your life and the way you will see it. Well, at least 10 seconds (or may be less) after you read this.

Will you do your friend a favor? You should answer the question truthfully and a "Yeah right" is the best answer. It could be the longer "Yeahhhhhh..." follow up with the shorter and end abruptly "right." or the shorter "Yeah, right" and hopefully the more honest version of it. I am not sure if you are getting this, but most of us (a normal person who actually has a real feeling, minus the politicians - yeah, right) will have to endure with this feeling and more guilt that came along with it. You sometime will feel guilty after you agreed to help your best friend to hold his hand through out a monstrous-dentist-appointment that he was afraid damn freaking out, just to noticed that your red and swollen hand the next morning or when you are helping your friend doing something personal until it comes a little bit more personal than you expected. And what they called the term nowadays? Oh yes, "Friend With Benefits".

What I am trying to say is, we all have tried so hard to be the best friend he or she ever had by helping them to do lot of things and yet in some occasion we will feel unappreciated. To make matter worst, we, ourselves also sometimes forgot to acknowledge the helps from our dearest friends. Just a thanks or a friendly hug would mean a lot better for you and your friend. After all, just keep in mind that they may be have done something that isn't so pleasant for themselves in the name of doing a friend a favor. "Will you do your friend a favor?" should be changed to "Are you appreciating your friend's favor?" It is a must done thing to do for a stranger managed to walk into your life and became from a stranger to an acquaintance and then become a friend, and finally in doing so you will keep he or she for the rest of your life.

What are your the most worst or best favor that you have done to your friend? For me, the top five favors are:
  1. Checking for my best friend who was also my ex-girlfriend the show time for a romantic movie in cinemas, so that she and her boy friend will have the night for cuddling with each other when watching this movie.
  2. Did I mention that when I was in one of the cinemas websites, I was infected by spyware? What a bummer. (The site was later being blocked by Google)
  3. Spending a dreadful hour in dentist with my friend I told earlier. He did not rightfully say that he was going to a dentist. He said he wanted to visit a doctor after we back from spending another hour earlier in a coffee house slipping cups of caffeine - which I later learned that he wanted to reduce his nerve activities before the dentist appointment.
  4. As a regular offender for this favor, I always keep in my mind to not ever doing it again, but I fail every single time. The big favor is - accompany a girl friend shopping.
  5. Letting your friend copying your answer during examination and ended up getting busted. As all of the students in my primary school class knew who the only person in loves Sailor Moon so much that you wrote the questions asking for the answer on a paper with drawings of a full frontal Sailor Moon's character on it. That would be my friend of course and not me. Then she later left the paper laying on the table after the exam just to get picked up by the teacher.

So, there you go. Top five favors that I think I won't try to do it again in the future. I am sure hope you don't. Anyway, please share with us some if not all, favors that you have done just in the name of friendship and let us all appreciate it together (and having some laugh in between). Have a great day,
